I was able to park my car right outside the door which is great when road tripping. The showers were hot with good pressure. They allowed dogs for a small fee and it was close to a patch of grass to allow the pup to use the restroom. Had a nice TV with many channels, free wifi, comfy bed and was quiet.

We planned specifically to go to McCook to see certain things, and we were able to do so. There is a Frank Lloyd Wright house in McCook, and we stopped there right away. Also, next door, was the home of Ben Nelson, whom I know personally, and think highly of him. It was fun to see his home. The central part of the city is also pleasant to walk and there were several stores we wanted to visit. The High Plains Museum and the Norris Historic Site are both worth a stop. And we enjoyed the Bieroc Cafe.

My reservation was made in error at 2am.

My reservation was made in error at 2am. I called immediately to cancel. The McCook Holiday Inn refused to cancel the reservation and stole my money, and refused to issue a refund, stating it was "against policy". I am waiting to see if my Chase credit card will follow through with fraudulent charges so I can get my money back.

A nice sized town, only thing not happy about was they didn't have much for delivery for food and door dash is to expensive. We did get Pizza Hut to deliver and the pizza and cheesy bread sticks were awesome. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express. A very clean hotel and the breakfast was awesome. Beds are comfotable where most hotels arent, Also roomy. Pool was kinda on the cool side and no hot tub, the exercise room was decent. The woman who ran the breakfast was so sweet and friendly but the front desk guy was kinda cold not very friendly, kinda like a robot. I highly recommend this hotel. It's right off of Hwy 83 good location. The other hotel we stayed at was also great. Horse Creek Hotel. I would recommend also. Pet friendly. No pool or hot tub. Clean facility. McCook has a Long John Silvers but unfortunately I didnt see it until we left McCook. I didnt get to spend to much time here. I will be going back soon.

The town its self was wonderful and very inviting. The hotel was awful very dirty and unkept room door did not lock floors had visible dirt on them. Dead pigeons out side the entrance. Moldy looking ceilings. Entertainment was great.

Eat at the "Taste of Texas BBQ" Steaks 1/2 the price of the biggest restaurant. Old Sarge's Bar a bit of local color, 75 years at same location, but nice. McCook a railroad town, small, easy to get around, some nice restaurants. On the scenic route to Denver but nothing scenic but cornfields, nice change from the Interstates. The same hotel in denver would cost $300.00 plus. Bring your own entertainment.

After driving across the state, fast food was not an option.

After driving across the state, fast food was not an option. However, in McCook, NE, lack of a restaurant(s) was a REAL issue. Forget the problem of choice bcz there were no choices for a city of this size! Of the two we found, neither were open on Sun, 4-6pm, the weekend before the 4th of July. One local opinion was that the local population didn't support restaurants, and someone said something about local govt still restricting them due to Covid. ? July 2022 ? So, who knows. Its just very strange to see all the hotels and, figuratively, no restaurants. Visiting extended family in a small nearby town and the hotel we chose are the only things that made it worth our stay in McCook. Shame on their lazy and uneducated City Council.
