Tashkent is clean, safe, and impressively modern in parts, yet still holds on to its rich Soviet and Silk Road-era charm. The locals are warm and respectful, the city is affordable, and the food (especially plov and samsa) is authentic and full of flavor. We loved how easy it was to take day trips to Chimgan Mountains, Charvak Lake, and the Amirsoy resort all offering beautiful nature, cable cars, and a refreshing change from city life. Tashkent is one love!
Tashkent is one love! A cozy oriental city with beautiful and welcoming people on one side - and a modern megapolis with busy downtown, great Tashkent City Mall, and the Seoul Mun nightlife street on the other. You definitely should try Tashkent Metro (one ride is hilarious $0.15!) and see the beautiful stations. But moving around the city on taxi via Yandex Go app is also more than affordable: $2-3 even from/to the airport, and $6 will take you up to Kazakhstan border! So, PLEASE, don't settle for 'smart' taxi drivers at the airport offering you a ride for $50 and even for $20! Must-sees: Amir Temur Square, Navoiy theatre, Tashkent City Park & Mall, Milliy Bog', Magic City. For nice local gifts and clothing, check out Teplo Store. And at Chorsu bazaar, keep an eye on your pockets and be careful not to eat too much - it's delicious, you just can't stop! Osh (pilaf) and shashlik (kebab) are definitely worth trying. A bit expensive. For shopping, visit Farkhod Market. Flavoured tea is only available at Chorsu bazar. The overall experience was good. Twin bed room in hotels are expensive, but if you stay at hostels then it's cheap and you get to meet with new people. The views are good and it's very developed as compared to bukhara and lots of greenery. We didn't have enough time to go out and explore Tashkent, which is a shame! Because the evening we left there was a soccer game in which the Uzbekistan national team qualified for the World Cup! Next time we will make a special visit to Tashkent so that we have enough time to walk around and enjoy all the places in the city!Guest review byYelenaIsrael

Its in a quiet neighbourhood, but still only a 15 minutes walk away from metro- and trainstation. Theres a restaurant and a small grocery shop around the corner. The staff was very friendly, gave me a warm welcome and made me every time feel like coming back home after a long day in the city. The hotel is minutes from bus stops from where you can quickly get a direct bus to the airport, the train station or the centre of Tashkent. Or a cheap Yandex taxi of course. There are shops and a market nearby and a wonderful all-day bread bakery is one minute walk away. Lovely helpful reception staff.
