The palace is no longer used and all the buildings are closed. You can walk around the grounds and see the outside of the buildings but that's about it. Considering everything else we saw this was a let down.

    Imperial palace was amazing.

Imperial palace was amazing. We paid for a palace guide at the palace entrance and so glad we did pay for the guide. The guides english was very good and pointed out so many subtle things we would have missed. Guided tour of the Palace was the highlight of our trip to Kyoto :-)

This small boutique hotel is located in quite area of Kyoto, close to the imperial palace. The staff made our stay very pleasant and were always ready to accommodate any request or questions we had. The rooms where large even by western standards, more than 40 m2 and the bathroom with the tub was wonderful. Also it in a very quiet location so there is no noise of any kind.

I really enjoyed my stay at this boutique hotel. The room was extremely clean and modern, and the bed was VERY comfortable. Kyoto sites are generally pretty spread out, but this hotel was nicely located for walks to Nijo Castle, The Imperial Palace, Nishiki Market and along Kamo River to the Shimogamo Shrine (all of which were recommended by Front Desk staff). It was also very close (<5 mins) to a couple of subway lines, one of which I took from Kyoto Station to the hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Yoko-san was an outstanding host and an absolute treasure trove of information about the area. She made us feel welcome and comfortable. Her English is also outstanding, so if you're worried about your japanese, you'll be understood here! The property itself is stunning and shows how much care is put into it. The location is amazing as well, it's barely a 5 minute walk to the imperial palace. Just a few doors down is one of the highest rated places to eat in the area.

This property was a beautiful modern take on historic makiya (downtown Kyoto townhome). It is an excellent example of the essence of Japanese minimalist’s serenity in interior design. The location was quite walkable to many of Kyoto’s highlights including the imperial palace, Nishiki market, gion and many local temples

Everything is great, located very close to the main Imperial Palace, and also quite easy to get to other Kyoto attractions. Fast working Wi-Fi. a huge gallery of comics on the 1st floor that you can borrow for reading. Pajamas are provided and the air conditioning works well. Breakfast in Japanese style, but the same every day. I stayed in Kyoto for a few days, and went to the neighboring cities of Nara and Osaka. I advise you to budget for Kyoto with trips to neighboring cities for 4-5 days

We love how spacious the room was and was able to fit all of us. The room was very comfortable and beautiful. love that their was a grocery store right across the street for all of our snack needs. The hotel is also very close to the bus station. We had 3 day Kansai Thru Passes and had not issues with bus transportation. The location was very quiet and safe. It was walking distance from the Imperial Palace and the Nijo Castle.

The tatami room was very clean and larger than I expected which I appreciated. There is a full garden in the back of the hotel which guests are free to tour. Tea, coffee, and an electric kettle are provided. The location is convenient to several temples and the imperial palace but be warned, it can be hard to get to Kyoto station from here.

Amazing location for our month in Kyoto. The apartment was small but extremely comfortable, and we felt completely at home there. It is within walking distance to the Imperial Palace, Gion, Nishiki Market, Teramachi, etc.
