The hot baths 'onsen', where beautifully designed and well positioned next to the river. The whole setup with the baths and hotel next to it looked like it came out of a Japanese traditional movie. It was absolutely beautiful and nourishing to be there. The dinner was really great, breakfast looked like dinner :D. The staff was friendly and caring and helped rearrange some dinner times so we could eat together with the friends we travelled with. We bought some pretty yukata's as a souvenir to take home.

Fantastic location with great views of the mountains, and the onsens are superb. The super hydrogen onsen is no gimmick either, it made me feel so much more relaxed than a regular onsen. Not to mention the onsen has a great view of the mountain as well, making for a very relaxing experience. Rooms are very comfy and the food was delicious. Easy to arrange the shuttle pickup from the station as well.

We were a bit too early for the heavy snowfalls, but still managed to catch some snow the second evening. Even without the snow it was lovely. In terms of hospitality, the staff were especially accommodating - they even ferried us to local train station from door to door. futon beds were thick and comfortable, amenities were also plentiful and they were more than willing to provide extra at your request.
