Was a stone's throw from Santillana del mar, just outside of the village with parking. The breakfast for 10 euro was really good, you really got you're money's worth. This is a beautiful little medieval town with cobbled streets and impressive ancient buildings. A central feature is the large cathedral of Colegiata of St. Juliana, where you can visit the cloisters or attend Catholic mass. It stands in a square which is bordered by an art museum (Jesus Otero). A few cobbled streets run off the square, with plenty of restaurants and hotels to choose from. They are proud of their cheese and other local produce, so there are several shops dedicated to this. The Conventa Clarisas (convent of the poor Clares) is also very charming and is famous for its pastries for sale. We stayed in the beautiful Hotel Casa del Marques, whose staff were very friendly and welcoming, in a well-appointed and spacious room with large comfortable bed, seating areas and ensuite, all in keeping with the charming classic style of the hotel. We also spent a night at the Hotel los Infantes, which is impressively grand. It is easy to access this small town on foot, but it is possible to drive through the cobbled streets and there is a public car park which is free. The town is not actually on the coast, but is 10 minutes' drive from pretty local beaches.

This is a must-see, very beautiful town.
This is a must-see, very beautiful town. It is close to the Altamira Caves, although we decided not to visit them. We ate in a little restaurant at the square and the food was incredible and very cheap. We got to Santillana del Mar by car and it was easy to find, parking is available and overnight parking was free.

Santillana del Mar is a well preserved historic town in beautiful setting. Lovely to walk the cobbled streets and soak in the ambiance of the old town. The Catholic Church was really interesting as was local museum- downside was no English signage in either.
Barely 2km from town is the astounding Cave of Altamira and museum. They have protected these prehistoric caves by building a museum containing an accurate replica of the caves and artwork. That alongside a fascinating exhibition of the era concerned made for a compelling visit. In high season, best to get there early as there are limited numbers going through the museum. Lovely walking through area and viewing (from distance) original cave entrance. Beautifully maintained and very helpful staff. Information in Spanish & English.
Multitude of cafe/restaurants in old town with great food

This place is unique, as are each of the houses / places to stay - so much character! The church of Santa Juliana is a gem, and the 12th century cloister is amazing. The village is a lovely blend of culture and country - incredible architecture and free-range chickens / horses. Altogether delightful!

Santillana del Mar is a beautiful village with some lovely buildings but is leaning towards being overly touristy and much of what was on sale was repetitive and not great quality.
However, it has a superb ceramics shop - if you are interested in lovely pieces then do visit ARPA.Also a lovely little leather goods sho[ and a couple of decent jewellers .

The hosteria has an excellent location, on the main road into town 3 minutes from where the bus drops you in the city, minutes from everything but not in the tourist-overloaded center. (Note: google maps has location wrong if searching by address, but correct if searching by name). It was spotlessly clean, quiet at night, had a well-appointed room with a refrigerator with bottles of water, toiletries in the bathroom. No breakfast but owner told me of a delicious buffet breakfast 2 minutes away at Hotel La Casona de Revolgo.
Old traditional and very stylish house right in the center of Santillana with safe private parking; our room was immaculate, beautiful and had a very modern and stylish bath; superb breakfast; the manager and ‚Jack of all Trades‘ Raff was very friendly, witty and helpful with different recommendations concerning i.e. trips to the near coast or our further journey through Spain
Beautiful building in a gorgeous town. Quaint. Charming. Lovely woodwork all around inside the hostel all hand built by the owners who have their spectacular hand made furniture business next door! The hotel was clean and it felt safe.
Great location to walk around town. Close to a nice restaurant, Casa Cossio, where they serve the best Cocido Montañés I’ve had in Cantabria!
Amazing hotel - beautiful historic building!!
Location was incredible - Santillana Del Mar is beyond beautiful. Amazing old buildings and cobbled streets. Took so many photographs!
Loads of nice bars and restaurants very close by, so we were spoilt for choice in the evenings. Everywhere in town is within walking distance from the hotel.
To be met by Beatrix who called me by my name even though we'd never met was amazing! The location is perfect for exploring both Santillana del Mar and surrounding areas. Located on the edge of the village only 2-3 minutes into the centre was great.
The building and rooms were comfortable and very much in keeping with the area.
Thank you!
Beautiful hotel with amazing views, very well maintained, lovely spa experience and very friendly staff. The restaurant was great and the food delicious. We also loved the antique car and motorbike collection. The room was beautiful and the beds very comfortable. Spotlessly clean. 10/10!
This hotel was centrally located near a quiet park in Santillana. It was an easy 5 minute walk into the historic centre where there were great bars and restaurants. It was also only a 2.2km walk to the Caves. The hotel had good parking and the room had everything we needed.
A really nice, charaterful, charming hotel on the edge of a small park. Well situated to walk into town and with bars and restaurants nearby.
The room was spacious and well decorated and furnished. Cleanliness was good and the staff friendly and helpful.
Right in the heart of Santillana del Mar, cosy upstairs apartment with plenty of room for two, very clean, good WiFi, super friendly host and easy parking at the municipal parking lot near the tourist office which cost 4€ per 24 hours.
Great location just a 5 minute walk to Santillana and 1 km from the Altamira Museum.
The hotel staff were wonderful and the restaurant was very popular although we didn’t eat there.
The rooms were small but nicely appointed
Extremely hospitable staff, charming hotel with memorabilia representative of old Spain, including an incredible clock collection. Could not be better situated, right opposite the pedestrian entrance to the old city.
We had a great time at this resort-style hotel, a short walk to the old town center. Room was very convenient. Pool and outside area were great. Breakfast was delicious. Highly recommended!
This was a one-night stop before our ferry to the UK. It was a tremendous find. The hotel was situated in an old building which provided a terrific ambiance. For the price it was excellent.
Centrally located in Santillana del Mar with attractive looking communal facilities, outdoor seating area (though with only 6 seats) and parking. Staff spoke good English.
The location was beautiful, very close to the centre of Santillana del Mar. The room was also very nice and clean, huge bed and nice modern bathroom. Secure place to park.
