It’s was really nice and clean. I just didn’t like that they didn’t have a wide selection of breakfast especially if you’re diabetic because everything had sugar including oatmeal and cereal. They had no eggs or at least a breakfast sandwich like other hotels

Very convenient, waterfront location for visitors looking for activities. To reach more distant attractions, rideshare fares are very reasonable. Our clean, city-side view room was quiet. Even with a loud, active child next door, the sound never travelled through the walls. Staff were very kind and accomodating, ready with suggestions and useful information.

FAQs about hotels in San Diego

The Art of Easy Living

Sweeping along the coast against a mountain backdrop, San Diego has easy living down to a fine art. Its wonderful beaches and mild climate make it a favorite spring break destination, and with over 40 city breweries, there are plenty of ice cold beers to set the mood.

The city’s most recognizable landmark is the Hotel del Coronado, a wooden Victorian beach resort, now a National Historic Landmark. As original Spanish mission and first in California, it's has been relocated to the Mission Valley area, and Old Town San Diego still has many Colonial buildings and quirky shops. Also great for shopping are Horton Plaza and the boutiques in the beachfront neighborhoods.

The city’s most famous attraction is its zoo in Balboa Park, a few blocks from San Diego International Airport. One of the world’s largest zoos, it is well worth a visit, as is the fantastic SeaWorld, home to several killer whales. To see wildlife in its natural habitat head to La Jolla beach where harbor seals rest, or watch whales in season from Point Loma Lighthouse.

Just over the border from Mexico’s Tijuana, San Diego has a distinctly Latin American vibe and a variety of accommodations encompassing apartments, motels, B&Bs and hotels. See Booking.com for the best deals.

We loved our time in San Diego.

We loved our time in San Diego. We visited several beaches and each was unique and fun. We also especially enjoyed the San Diego Zoo, which we would recommend to anyone. The food scene is also great and great food is available at any price point.

The downtown area is basically destroyed.

The downtown area is basically destroyed. Homeless folks all over the place. Every block smells like urine. No shopping to speak of, and quality of the environment is poor. If you're going to make the trip to San Diego, head to the downtown area of Coronado Island. Awesome downtown space, safe, clean, and tons of local shopping/dining. Definitely upscale experience. Or, you can stop in La Jolla which is just north of San Diego and the experience is the same, very upsale, clean, great food and shopping. It's so sad that downtown San Diego has turned into a pit. I've gone there for decades and really had some magical times, but now, I'd never go there again. With the exception of Little Italy district, it's just done.....

I grew up in San Diego. I came home for a visit. My brother made our trip great. He took us out kayaking on LaJolla Shores and Cove. We went paddle boarding at Kelloggs Beach. I took my grandaughter to Sea World. Ate at many awesome restaurants. Went to Laguna Mtn Observatory.

Beach and sunny weather — one of the main reasons we flew to San Diego. Among the beaches we visited, we prefered La Jolla Cove area. San Diego Zoo and SeaWorld were worth going to, especially with our minor child. If you do not want to carry your child all the time, you may rent strollers for just below $30.

The end of our road trip was to San Diego, 12-17th July, we stayed on Shelter Island in Humphreys Half Moon Inn which was a beautiful oasis. The rooms were like apartments spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The pool area was perfect with towels too, and not too busy. The restaurant had really delicious food and wonderful views over the harbour. Great service too. We don’t get around to using our 1hr free cycle hire each day wish we had as the Shelter Island was beautiful. We hired a car for our road trip so had access to things, without a car Shelter Island is a little further away. We visited Coronado Island and the USS midway. Both well worth a visit. We also went to Belmont Park. We pre-booked a whale watching tour on the America Yacht which was absolutely fantastic and we were fortunate enough to see a blue whale incredible. The crew were fantastic it was a great half a day experience. The only downside was could have stayed a little longer to visit more. Loved San Diego what an incredible place.
