What a brilliant place to stay, can't fault it and can't praise it highly enough. The building was beautiful, the room and bed really comfortable and cooking facilities excellent. Phillip and Daphne were really welcoming and helpful and the breakfast early in the morning was superb. I'd highly recommend Murchison Lodge to anyone looking to stay in the area.

Absolutely loved the place.
Absolutely loved the place. The lodge had a great walkway down to the river. Everything was just fabulous from chocolate brownies in the room to friendly people. We played in the Open Murchison golf tournament, which is always well organised and the food yummy. Swimming in the river was a highlight on both days. Great swingbridge, 10km out of town. Fantastic.

Usually we pass through Murchison, but this time we made it a stopover for a night. We loved this place. It is in a very picturesque valley, in a lovely warm microclimate, with kayaking and hiking on the doorstep. The nearby swingbridge and cometline were a must. Great pizza from the Cow Shed! We could easily spend more time exploring the surrounds, with a base of the fabulous Murchison Lodge.

Murchison is a small town.
Murchison is a small town. We had dinner at the local pub which was not cheap but the serving sizes are extra large so good value.
People are welcoming and the place had a safe feel to it.
Place relies on the tourist trade so very quiet when we were there.
We walked from our accommodation to "town", all flat. Very little traffic.

It was a beautiful Autumn road trip to Murchison, the back road down from the Nelson area was outstanding following the river and the vines turning colours. Then up to Blenheim through the pass and the vineyards with all of their colours..... Beautuful
Easy, central location to many places and what a fabulous backyard with the Southern Alps right there.
There's a very good cafe across the road.

An interesting little "out back town".
An interesting little "out back town". The pub meal was good and the place humming with the activity of locals an probably visitors.
One interesting spot was the "antique store". More like a museum of well used stuff.
The river very near could be good for fishing but I did not try it out.
Phil runs a beautiful, quaint, idyllic, and homey B&B! After a long backpacking along the Abel Tasman Coast, this was such a treat! We loved how Phil welcomed us from the moment we pulled in to the lodge. This lodge is a hidden gem - amazing night of sleep surrounded by trees and awaking to rooster and birdsongs the next morning. Breakfast was personally made and served by Phil, who hosted us. A quick walk to the gazebo with the river view is worthwhile. We would love to visit again!
One of the nicest motels we’ve stayed in. Spacious and a well equipped kitchen. Modern and up to date decor and a good size kitchen area. Off the main road so quiet location but easy to get to town. We recommend the Cow Shed for food and drinks rather than the local hotel recommended by the accommodation as that was pretty dire. Cow Shed was great!
Lovely motel, quiet and comfortable. Rooms was well appointed, fantastic shower after a day on the road! Just a stroll to the local hotel for some excellent pub grub. This is a contactless motel so didn't meet the owners but their process is clear and worked without a hitch. Can thoroughly recommend both the motel and Murchison. Thanks!
Located in the centre of Murchison is this gem. Lovely clean and warm cabin in a mini bush setting. Trampoline, tree swing, out door kitchen, games and our cabin (tūī) had its own little brazier for our use. We had a lovely time make a fire roasting marshmallows and making smores. Would stay again if passing through.
the hotel is in the center of town so it was a very convenient location. The staff are exceptionally helpful. it was a wet day so they lit the stove so we could be warm and dry our clothes. The bathrooms are shared but were very clean. There is an excellent pizza place located on the premises.
the owner/manager was very welcoming and helpful. when I had a problem missing my coach to Westport, she gave me some practical suggestions of another overnight stay. but thankfully I didn’t need it as I was given a life by 2 customers at the Rivers Cafe arranged by the Murchison I-Site team
Everything about our stay was excellent. So welcoming, the lodge is charming and comfortable. Just a short away from their lovely raised gazebo platform overlooking the river. Home-cooked dinner and breakfast were delicious! I'm sure my husband and both thought it was a wonderful stop.
This lodge was just the perfect place, warm, comfortable, clean with the most fantastic hosts, Daphne & Philip.
Nothing was too much for them , they were so accomodating, it was fantastic. Lovely breakfast with home made muesli and yogurt. Just Devine.
Good location, liked the overall layout of the unit. The manager we met was very friendly and helpful. The self service laundry was a plus, the stand alone dryer actually dried our clothes.
Great place to stop over between Christchurch and Nelson. Comfortable, spacious suite with everything we needed. This would be our choice to stay in Murchison again.
