The hotel is in walking distance to the water taxis and there are nice views over the harbour from Martha's Café. Access to the accomodations from reception and restaurant is over a not too busy street through a code-secured gate. Quite a bit of greenery around and two swimming pools. Our room was spacious, the bathroom okay. On the terrace outside the room was a hammock and a small table with two chairs. It was quiet.
We especially enjoyed the drinks and the dinner at Martha's Café.

We were surprised that the main part of the city was a bit 3rd-world -- but that was a lot of the charm of it. And all the people are NICE, and seem TOTALLY HAPPY, which makes it great to do things there! We didn't eat anywhere but our resort. If you buy any excursions, make SURE you know EXACTLY where you will meet and what time BEFORE you get into town! And definitely take a river cruise -- the BEST!

Belize city has a reputation that is not encouraging.
Belize city has a reputation that is not encouraging. Yet, I enjoy visiting the city as it has almost all that you can purchase in a North American City. There are areas that are considered "do not visit" zones but that is also characteristic of other cities. If you stay in the main part of the city you will be fine, but we should always be vigilant.

Belize is a good place. The people appear to be friendly.
Belize is a good place. The people appear to be friendly. Food is good.
It is a slow pact of life.
I do feel the government should actively start looking at how to support and protect the domestic animals such as the dogs and cats as there are many stray animals roaming around everywhere.
I also noticed dogs especially were tried up but in some cases I didn't see any drinking water basins supplied for them! As an animal lover I found this unacceptable.
There was a dog at Caye Caulker that was tried up with no food and water so I had to feed it. I went to inform the police and the police asked me- "What do I want him to do about it"?
I told him I wanted them to check it out as this is animal abuse as the dog was not being cared for. I told him I would check up at the police station later to find out what was done. He then said he would send a patrol out to investigate the situation.
When I got back the dog had been removed, I don't know what happened to the dog.
The man at the animal sanctuary said that lots of tourist come to tell him of these situation but he is full to capacity and unable to take any more animals. The government needs to do something as people can find this distressing and are hypersensitive these situation.

Not a bad place for a tropical capital, (not like San Jose, Costa Rica) but hot, hot, hot. Bad taxi problem, rediculous prices and decrepid cars. Museum ($7) open but all the Mayan artifacts in storage, perpetually apparently. Craft market near the harbour (outside the purpose built one for the cruise ships, now shut and depidated) worth a visit but only one or two stalls, none had sold anything in days we were told (highly believable with steep pricing necessary for elevated cost of living locally). Much poverty and relatively high crime rate, a cop on every corner very attentive to foreign visitors. 3 banks in main square close the ATMs regularly to avoid paying out.

Belize City is very commercial, industrial and rough around the edges at first glance but there are many things worth seeing in the area. Many of the residential neighborhoods are quaint and quiet. From Belize City, Altun Ha is just a short drive as well as The Baboon Sanctuary and the Belize Zoo. Smokeez Seaside Restaurant and Bar was our favorite spot, right on the water near the famous Belize Monument Sign”. If your up for really experiencing the culture of the country, you must spend a few days in Belize City.

Belize City itself is not much of an attraction.
Belize City itself is not much of an attraction. It is a good place to stay overnice before or after and international flight, prior to moving on to other places in the country. Taxis should be arranged by your hotel for airport pickups and departures. Waling around at night did not seem especially safe. We walked to dinner, before dark, and took taxis back to the hotel. Have your restaurant call the cab. No Uber
If you want to explore the real local life of the city, this is the place to be in the southern part of Belize City. From here you can easily walk to the stores and small restaurants around. Nevertheless, you can easily walk across the bridge to the more touristy northern part. The entire house has been personally renovated and lovingly decorated by the owners, you will not missing anything. They are very friendly and helpful and try to make your stay a great experience.
Breakfast is included with table service and a varied selection of food. Excellent staff service overall. We were given a bright room with large windows. A/C and WIFI worked well. Cold drinks available in lobby to take to your room, (pop/beer, etc.). Food also can be ordered, kitchen on site. Grocery store and ATM located nearby. Tours can also be booked at the hotel. There is a rooftop pool and sitting area with excellent views of town.
We stopped in Belize City for an overnight after Caye Caulker because we had an early morning flight. This place was perfect - we could walk from the water taxi (about 10 minutes) and could eat both dinner and breakfast on the lovely deck overlooking the water. They arranged an airport taxi for us. We didn't have time to take any yoga classes but would have if we could have.
Breakfast was amazing! Staying here felt like being home; there is a kitchen at our disposal and a back yard little pool that makes it all the more lovely. All the ladies who work there were exceptional in their care to me. The owner sat with me at breakfast which was delightful; she is a fun and wise woman who knows the world. This little Villa Hotel reflects that.
The staff were professional throughout the onset and imminent arrival of Hurricane Lisa , they worked tirelessly through the aftermath and days of recovery.
Unfortunately we did not experience the hotel in its natural setting due to the Hurricane, the staff and management tried there best under very difficult circumstances and we thank them for there efforts.
Breakfast was amazing, and they accomodated our need to leave early for a flight. Owner was lovely and charming. Housekeeper did an impeccible job, wish I had cash to leave a tip for her. Outside yard was lovely to read at night, great short stroll to an awesome restaurant on the beach.
The location is not far from the airport. They offered a shuttle that was cheaper than a taxi. The layout of the property is very nice with a view of the sea. Having a restaurant onsite was convenient. The seaside cabins are a great way to have seclusion and offer a view.
Angie was great very helpful, especially as we booked with her about only 30 mintues before we arrived from a different hotel which was terrible and we ended up leaving that first place within an hour. Angie's space was an extreme breath of fresh air.
The Hotel meet all my expectations and the location was excellent. Breakfast was more than expected and cleanliness gave a a sense of great comfort. I wanted to stay more nights but the Hotel was fully booked. I’ll definitely be back! 😃
you can tell even before walking in that this is likely one of the best hotels in Belize city. facilities are well maintained and clean. rooftop is great with good food at Vino Tinto.
this was my second time staying there , I don't have much issues. It is not luxury but it is really doable for a night or 2 stay. Location is great as well.
The hotel has beautiful grounds and landscaping and a very nice pool and separate yoga pool. A lovely refuge in the city. Good location. Rooms are large.
