Maria and Giorgos are the perfect hosts. This pension has everything you need for a comfortable stay on a budget. The place was very clean and in such a great location. The food in their restaurant is incredible too!
Back-dropped by breathtaking Cretan mountains, the family-run Faragi enjoys a unique location, at the peaceful seaside village of Agia Roumeli, at the end of the famous Samaria Gorge.

Nice and clean room, confortable bed.
Super good onsite restaurant with a beautiful ocean-front terrace, with excellent food and wine and very attentive service.
Very nice and helpful hosts/owners.
Great location, very nice views, also from the room.

Simple amenities were all we needed. Mini fridge & A/C in the room & clothes drying rack in the patio with a sea view. Restaurant downstairs was very good & convenient.
Located 197 feet from the beach of Agia Roumeli. The air-conditioned studios of Artemis have an open-plan kitchenette with seating and dining area. Each is equipped with a fridge and cooking hobs.

Tray the chocolate and vanilla milk shake.

Agia Roumeli is a small village, which mainly accommodates those who visit the Samaria Gorge. Access is either by foot from the gorge or by boat from other parts of Sfakia region.
It is definitely recommended to stay in Agia Roumeli after visiting the Gorge, as it is a quite demanding hike and some time to rest and relax is much needed.
Lots of nice restaurants and cafes to choose from. People are warm and welcoming, and the Agia Roumeli beach is also lovely.

In May, after ferries leave, a very sleepy, romantic place to be in. Next day, while travellers from Samaria arrive, a bit crowdy village :-) The atmosphere is very nice, great to experience, a great spot to stay after your Samaria walk and maybe even a bit longer!

Agia Roumeli offers activities for both sea and mountain lovers, and good, Cretan food based on local products. It should thus be considered as a destination on its own and not just a transfer area after exiting the Samaria Gorge.

Wonderful town, away from the big crowds.
Wonderful town, away from the big crowds. Crystal clear blue waters with great swimming and snorkelling possibilities. 2-3 decent restaurants, which in combination with having a small supermarket and our own kitchen was ideal for up to a week.
The town is crowded only for a few hours per day when hikers come down from the gorge. Me and my partner immediately felt at home and decided to stay one more night than planned. A lovely little gem that I’d love to visit again.

The beach has black sand, so is too hot to sit on or walk on, and the water is not always clean, depending on the wind direction. Agia Roumeli serves more as an exit or entrance point to Samaria Gorge, which means that most tourists are "one-time" visitors. So related services are overpriced and of poor quality.
Which is a pity, because it is a very nice village, that could be worth staying a couple more days.

Samaria Gorge is outstanding as usual, even in late October.
Samaria Gorge is outstanding as usual, even in late October.
It is worthwhile to hike from Agia Roumeli to Agios Pavlos and back.
The most beautiful path in Chania, in Crete, in Greece, in Europe, in the world. Friendly people everywhere and amazing sea after the gorge
I didnt like I paid for mini bus from Samaria exit to the Agia Roumeli town and there was no receipt. If this business is public, they should include the cost to the Samaria ticket, if is private they should give receipt. People should not feed Kri Kri wild goats.
Possibly the only truly family tavern in Agia Roumeli. The best part - they got rooms!
I enjoyed a delicious meal, and a sensory experience that I dreamed of for years. The silence and calmness of the evening complemented the aromas of the fresh dishes, served near the beach, at one of their few tables, the view from the room terrace. The attention and discretion of the restaurant owner, Mr. Nectarios, who offered me as a gift two small bottles - one with olive oil and one with brandy. Thank you very much!
the location and facilities! We walked through the Gorge and wanted to spend the night in Agio Roumelli. the later checkout time was great as we were tired the next morning. We were allowed to take towels to the beach after checkout and use the restroom in the hotel to get ready for the ferry at 5:30. The location was superb to spend a day in Agio Roumelli. I don't know why more people don't opt to stay the night.
After finishing the Samaria Gorge, this was the ideal spot for a rest. The room had everything we needed: a bed, air-conditioning, a toilet and a shower. This being said, Faragi had great hosts whom were friendly and provided us with fresh food. In the evening we read a book together with the refreshing mountain tea that they had. We had a great experience at this place, especially for the price we paid.
Good location away from the beach crowds, but still very close to the beach and restaurants. This is a very well-run family operation: friendly, helpful and professional, and full of local knowledge about the area. They also have a restaurant nearby (studio guests receive a discount!). The studios are large, comfortable and very clean. The wifi was acceptable. We would definitely stay here again.
Small seafront hotel with excellent facilities quality. Fresh and clean rooms, friendly service and awesome food. Best value/money option we had in whole Crete, I compare with Chania, Stavros and Kissamos.
The village itself is authentic and peaceful place where we got to know more real Crete than other overcrowded touristic places. I am going to return to this place again.
Where to start? It’s located at the end of the beach but only a 5 minute walk to the village with all the restaurants etc. I wish Sweetheart Corner could be a secret as it’s very special. The rooms are large, lovely and simple with everything you need. What makes it so special is the family and staff. It’s like home away from home. I wish I didn’t have to go home!
This hotel is a bit further out than the other properties. That means it’s much quieter and you have a beautiful view of the cliffs and the sea, and at night, the stars are crystal clear. The actual room furnishings are mostly the basics, but the owners’ kindness makes up for it. As a solo female traveler, I really felt safe and enjoyed my stay.
Lovely room, view and owner! Very comfortable stay and great value for money.
We decided to do Samaria gorge and then stay in the town overnight-then enjoy the beach all next day before getting ferry...I recommend this! Or staying more nights as the accomodation and town are so amazing.
Joseph and Maria were the perfect hosts. Joseph answered all our questions regarding places to swim, eat, fish (our daughter's boyfriend loves it) Joseph was so accommodating. We felt so welcome. Zorbas was immaculate and a perfect place to sleep after enjoying the Samaria Gorge hike.
Giannis was so nice. He runs the shop downstairs and everytime we came and went he always said hi and checked that everything was ok. Room was great with a nice little balcony and a fridge. Small but with everything we needed. Plus Agia Roumeli is a great place to stay.
The private patio overlooking the sea was amazing. There are comfortable chairs and two beach loungers with a large umbrella to relax under. The property owner, Nikos, is incredibly friendly and really makes your stay even better. The attached taverna is great too!
Lovely location overlooking the beach and very helpful staff.
Amazing value for money and a good place to chill out after Samaria gorge trek.
If you stay here then you have free access to sun loungers on the beach which are well needed as it’s a rocky beach
A calm and quiet place Ideal for family holidays! Rooms were spacious and clean .
Close to the beach and restaurants. Fantastic views from the balcony overlooking the beach. Very friendly and helpful stuff. Good walking nearby, quiet place ,no crowds.
Nice welcome and early check in, clean bright room with lovely large balcony overlooking sea. Good restaurant with hotel leading down to beach with free sun beds. Great value. Peaceful, relaxing vibe.
The location was great, very close to the exit of the Samaria Gorge. The highlight was the food offered. I've recommended it already to friends even if they're not staying there. Very friendly people.
Easily the cleanest room I've stayed at for quite some time! Very friendly host who was quick to respond to our requests. Agia Roumeli always a perfect destination to relax.
Beautiful hotel with a great restaurant below. Friendly staff, delicious food, scenic views, and a five minute walk to the beach.
