The Surf Lodge is beautifully decorated with a lot of love and taste. It offers amazing breakfast and a direct access to the beach. It is managed by the super kind Che who was always very attentive to help us organize a few things around the area. What we particularly loved about the hotel (apart from the amazing spacious rooms and the delicious (vegetarian) food) was that it is Che’s family home and has such a friendly and calming vibe :) it’s only a short walk to local restaurants and bars and Madiha’s main beach is also only a few minutes away. Beautiful location near the beach, awesome people, very good atmosphere. Too bad I couldn't stay longer. I will come back and stay one week next time. There's also this juice bar right next to the homestay. It's lovely! You cannot find a better place in the area.

We got lucky. We were the only guests here and had the whole hotel for ourselves:) It is build by Dutch/Sri Lankan couple and you can really see it in attention to architectural details. You see that they built this place so it would bring joy to them and all the guests.

It is so peaceful and beautiful there! The outdoor swinging bed is heaven! The grounds are lovely and the pool is a perfect place to relax. When the tide is out, there's also a small beach. They offered to prepare fish for us on our first night- it was delicious!

My wife and I recently spent two days and one night at this charming property, and it turned out to be the perfect spot for a peaceful and relaxing getaway. The location is truly unbeatable—nestled between the beautiful Hiriketiya and Pehembiya beaches, it offers easy access to both, making it a fantastic base for beach lovers. The accommodation itself exceeded our expectations. The room was spacious, well-maintained, and had a warm, inviting atmosphere. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep after a day of exploring. We also appreciated the thoughtful amenities provided, which added to our comfort. What really made our stay memorable was the exceptional hospitality of the caretaker. From the moment we arrived, he made us feel right at home with his friendly demeanour and genuine care for our needs. He was always available to assist us and even provided helpful tips about the local area. Overall, I highly recommend this place. It's a hidden gem for anyone looking to unwind in a serene setting while being close to some of the best beaches in the area. We’re already looking forward to our next visit. This is a lovely place to stay in Matara. Very close to the local Midiha beach and one km from the Polhena beach. Both beaches are good. The room is basic but very comfortable and clean and bathroom was also very clean. The family that runs the place is a very nice, warm-hearted, hardworking family. They also serve good breakfast (not included in the tariff). They arranged for our transportation while we were there and a car to take us to our next destination - all at competent prices. It is very close to some really great restaurants by the ocean. They have another guest house just opposite to theirs which has a swimming pool that we could use! We will definitely recommend to the place to everyone.
