I stayed one night at the Gasthof zur Post during my visit to the Großlockner Alpine Road. The place exceeded my expectations. Nice quiet room on the 3rd floor, with a nice balcony overlooking a portion of town. The room could have accommodated a family of five (plus pets—the place is dog-friendly). Owners Tanja Neubauer and Hans were very very friendly. I wanted to get up quite early to catch the rising sun on the road and Tanj prepared breakfast for me earlier than the normal opening time. It was an excellent start to the day. I definitely recommend the Gasthof zur Post. It's about 20 minutes away from Zell am See and about 25 mins. to the toll booth of the Großlocknerstrasse.

Great quiet location (need a car to reach it, not walkable), just like you see it in the photos. The appartment was spacious, kitchenette had everything you need for a quick cooking, big living room and bedroom, very clean bathroom and big balcony where you can sit. Good free parking space. The garden and the view from the balcony were amazing, you can see the river and also you can watch the sunset from the balcony. The host was great.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean, bright and spacious. The breakfast was wonderful, great selection of fresh fruits, cheeses, breads. The town of Taxenbach is quaint with character and some good places to eat. There are several nice hikes here and easy drive to lots of beautiful nature.

    Taxenbach is a small town which had everything we needed, grocery store, bakery, butcher and good restaurant. It is located near many other small towns like it and major Austrian attractions. It has a train station for easy access to other locations.

    We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff were exceptionally friendly and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The location is perfect — close to everything, yet quiet enough to relax. Our room was clean and comfortable, and we truly appreciated the attention to detail throughout the hotel. Overall, a lovely experience. We would definitely come back!

    Everything about Rieserhof was amazing. The farm setting, beautiful mountain views, exceptional hospitality,clean and spacious accommodation. Central location for day visits to Zell Am See, Hallstatt, Salzburg and many local small villages. Taxenbach is delightful. Springtime was a perfect time to visit.
