An amazing homestead with great accomodation in the Maid's quarters cottage. Garry & Sharyn were great hosts and Garry gave us a suggestion for our evening meal at the Farmers Arms Hotel in Beeac. A great stay and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The Scenery around the house is exceptional with the Red Rock lookouts right behind the property.

The owners were very accommodating to us as we arrived quite late. Lovely continental breakfast. We only stayed one night on our way out to the Great Ocean Road, was perfect for us.
I came home where i was born, home is where your heart is, We love Colac for family, the lake, gardens, close to beaches , wide roads, different from country to city highlights example wineries, Red rock home of Bulla icecream,
We visited the Colac Botanic Gardens which overlooked Lake Colac. It was very popular with walkers, cyclists and tourists and is very picturesque. It is possible to drive through the gates and around the grounds in a circular drive.
Due to the current Virus, a lack of places to sit down and eat was a nuisance, As older people (mid 70's to 80) we need to sit somewhere, and hate the idea of standing around like cattle eating our food. However, we realise it's not the fault of Colac, just the current state of things, which, given time, must obviously improve. We will certainly re-visit very soon, as we quite liked the town, and surrounds. Generally it seems to us, although on a short visit, to be a nice place to be. A welcome change from the City!
Reasonably big town with all the amenities and facilities anyone would need. From all your major fast food restaturants to shopping centres. Definitely would recommend any traveller to come through either for the night or just to drive past and stock up on supplies.
I attended the Funeral of my Cousin, which was a very sad day.The accommodation was conviently close to where the wake was held.Had breakfast at a nice cafe in the centre of town the next morning. Staff were excellent.
The main reason I stayed in Colac was to visit some of the dormant volcanoes in the area, on the way home from a brief trip along the Great Ocean Road. Some of the scenery and the many lakes around Colac were quite a surprise and well worth another visit to the area. The nearby wind generators were an amazing sight.
The room was lovely, clean and comfortable. It was a 2 minute drive from where I needed to be for work which was a bonus! Staff were friendly and helpful, and very quick to reply to my email regarding check in time. I will definitely stay again when travelling to Colac for work. Thank you!
