Management were very happy to chat, explain history and operation of property, and provide advice regarding local travel and points of interest. We would like to return to this area in the future, and would certainly be 'repeat guests' :)

Due to the current Virus, a lack of places to sit down and eat was a nuisance, As older people (mid 70's to 80) we need to sit somewhere, and hate the idea of standing around like cattle eating our food. However, we realise it's not the fault of Colac, just the current state of things, which, given time, must obviously improve. We will certainly re-visit very soon, as we quite liked the town, and surrounds. Generally it seems to us, although on a short visit, to be a nice place to be. A welcome change from the City!

Reasonably big town with all the amenities and facilities anyone would need. From all your major fast food restaturants to shopping centres. Definitely would recommend any traveller to come through either for the night or just to drive past and stock up on supplies.

I attended the Funeral of my Cousin, which was a very sad day.The accommodation was conviently close to where the wake was held.Had breakfast at a nice cafe in the centre of town the next morning. Staff were excellent.

The main reason I stayed in Colac was to visit some of the dormant volcanoes in the area, on the way home from a brief trip along the Great Ocean Road. Some of the scenery and the many lakes around Colac were quite a surprise and well worth another visit to the area. The nearby wind generators were an amazing sight.

Red rock was nice and not many people there.
Red rock was nice and not many people there. But would advise to go midday or afternoon for better lighting of the craters. Most cafes open 8am, not sure if this is a regular thing or just over Easter. Nice town. Nice people. Car wash @ BP was useful as i had been travelling on dirt/gravel road and the car was filthy.

The lake was very pleasant.
The lake was very pleasant. We would like to have seen more of the nature/wildlife reserve. It was a nice country drive there and fine as a stop off on our return to Melbourne from the Great Ocean Road.
