Four Mile Beach, Port Douglas
Whether you want to can relax by one of the resorts 6 lagoon-style pools or explore the world-famous Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest, Silkari Lagoons Port Douglas is the place for you. I booked a swim-out apartment and it was just wonderful, having access to the pool from my terrace was amazing. The apartment was huge and had all the facilities I needed. The washer and dryer were very convenient. The location was very close to the beach but a bit out of town which didn’t bother us as we had a car. And we were only ever going to the centre to have dinner anyway. You could actually walk along the beach to the centre and to the secure swimming area but it was a bit tricky coming back when the tide was in and the beach almost disappeared. But it was an unforgettable experience nonetheless!

Arriving just before the season really started meant that everything was open but not booked out or overcrowded. Staying at one end of Macrossan St meant that it was easy to get to the shops and particularly Coles for self catering purposes.
Port Douglas is a very pretty tourist town, situated between Cairns and Daintree. It is the closest access to the reef if that is what you are seeking. The town fully caters for tourists of all kinds. No need for a car to get around the town as shuttles run constantly and it is easy to organise tours if you wish. The nearby surrounds are to die for and noone will ever regret exploring this unique gateway to the reef and the rainforest.
It's small, pretty tourist town set between the rainforest hills and the reef, with pristine, unspoilt beaches, large resorts, good food. It's popular for easy access to unique Daintree Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef. There are lots of trip options to suit budget, time and fitness levels. There's something for everyone and accommodation for all budgets. Beaches are lovely but swimming options can be limited by jellyfish for some of the year. We went in April and the weather was warm and not too humid. There's a useful, cheap, on demand shuttle bus to get from resorts to the the town centre. The authentic The Mexican and the more expensive Wrasse & Roe were terrific restaurants. There are lots more we'd like to try next time.
Great place to visit. Very picturesque with lots of things to do. The Outer Reef is spectacular and well worth the time, money and effort. We did 4 main trios,Low Islands,Half Day Fishing,Outer Reef and Barra Fishing and all these were well run and operated. Diffucult to get into restaurants especially the few good ones and you need to book sone 8 to 10 weeks prior. The cheap and cheerful restaurants are pretty average and expensive.
Port Douglas has a great feel and the weather in April was blue sky sunny and humid! Suggest that you visit Mossman Gorge on a separate day rather than attempting to do it on the same day you drive up and back to Cape Tribulation as you'll run out of time. We enjoyed the 2hour Treetops Adventure zipline tour at Cape Trib - it was fantastic. Daintree Village was a big disappointment thought - not much happening there. People were great and helpful - my family including 3 teenagers loved our 7 day Port Douglas holiday.
Port Douglas is the best tourist destination. It caters for tourists with the locals also getting the special treatment. You can see shuttle buses everywhere that work with every resort so you can get free rides into town and back every 15 minutes right up until midnight, who needs a hire car! My family now want to move from Cairns to Port Douglas to live permanentley!
Port Douglas
Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful with driving instructions and port Douglas information. Excellent communication from booking to check in too which was greatly appreciated. Room was spacious and clean with fun decor. The air conditioning was already on which was thoughtful. Everything is there for free for a fabulous stay- towels, beach chairs, toys, books, games , even a Netflix account for the room! They thought of everything!
Port Douglas
We cannot really fault anything! Having said that, we were in Port Douglas when hardly anyone else could get there due to border closures, so had the pool and beach pretty much all for us! Not the easiest time for any of the hotels, restaurants and boat companies - hopefully happier times are not too far off. Kim and James were always smiley and very helpful - thanks so much for a great week.
Port Douglas
Excellent location, close to restaurants and shops and even closer distance to the beach. Very well thought through appartment with everything required for a comfortable stay. The bed was very comfy. Anne was very helpful and capable on advising on any aspect of your stay in Port Douglas. I felt very welcome and spent a great time relaxing and exploring the region.
Port Douglas
Sea temple resort is our favourite place to holiday in Port Douglas. The layout of the resort is easy to navigate, the facilities are great, the food/restaurant is awesome (love that omlette bar!!) & the rooms are so comfortable & private. It's the perfect place to escape from the world. We will definitely be back again!!!
The spacious and comfortable house was perfect for our stay with two families. We found the beds very comfortable and the big walk-in closets practical in the main bedrooms. The pool was great for the youngsters. The location in Craiglie means that one needs to drive about 6km to Port Douglas Marina - it worked fine for us.
Port Douglas
Pleasant comfortable room with good TV and WiFi. Great pool, which for a change from most Queensland hotel pools in winter was warm. There are good laundry facilities. The position is excellent being within easy walking distance from the main street of Port Douglas and Four Mile Beach and the boating wharf.
Port Douglas
My family and I loved this house. We loved everything. The location, the pool, the home....everything! It was so clean, quiet and peaceful. It is a beautifully designed home and the owners were so welcoming and helpful in anything we needed. We will definitely stay here when we come to Port Douglas.
Port Douglas
The apartment we stayed in was quite big and met our needs well. Although TiTree is 4kms or more from the heart of Port Douglas, the 45 minute walk along the beach was most enjoyable and certainly worth doing. The hotel a few hundred metres away was within walking distance.
Port Douglas
The pool is great and my 2 year old loved it no matter the weather. It’s big and clean and a nice temperature. We ordered salads from the pool bar which were delicious though expensive. The hotel is picturesque and only a 5-10 min drive from Port Douglas.
Port Douglas
It had a brilliant location in the centre of Port Douglas. However once you were inside the property grounds it felt like you were a million miles away as you couldn’t hear the road at all from the pools or rooms off the back of the hotel.
Port Douglas
The location was fabulous, in the heart of Port Douglas. The room had everything we needed. The pool area is lovely and being an adults only property, it is nice and quiet.
Port Douglas
This hotel was great value for money especially for Port Douglas. Super clean and plenty of room. For us the location was excellent as we had a wedding only 400m away.
Port Douglas
The location was excellent, right on the main street of Port Douglas and in the middle of all the cafes, restaurants, and shops. Air conditioning was super strong.
Port Douglas
Excellent hotel! Big shout out to Bernie at Reception who is super knowledgeable and helpful! Best value hotel in Port Douglas- can't recommend more highly!
Port Douglas
