1) This is a family run agrotourism property. The Owner (Costas) and his whole family (wife, daughters, and son in law) are involved in the running of the place. The warmth offered by the family to us is priceless! 2) The room exceeded our expectation. We were in Room 7 (an upstairs room with a balcony). The room was spacious, clean, has a kitchenette (we only made espresso, we did not bother to cook because the Lofou Tavern was 2 mins walk and it was good), the AC worked well, the bed was comfortable. In the fridge, we found a bottle of cold water and a bottle of fresh mandarin orange juice 3) The breakfast was a traditional Cypriot breakfast. We were late on one morning, but the Costas happily served us anyway and made us fresh fried eggs 4) We booked 1st night dinner. We had meze and it was lovely. The quantity was plenty to the point that we could not finish the dishes. We asked Costa for wine recommendation, and he recommended the house wine – it was a winner! So, 2 meze, 2 bottles of water, 1 bottle of house wine came to EUR52. 5) On the 2nd evening – we stopped by the Agrovino Wine Shop, owned by Dimitris, Costas’ son for pre-dinner drinks. Dimitris was knowledgeable and very hospitable. We came across wines from vineyards that we have not seen in many shops in Nicosia. They were well-priced. Very happy with our wine purchase! 6) On the 2nd evening – For dinner, we were booked at the other Tavern in the village. It so happened that there was a wedding and the Tavern had overestimated their ability to cope that evening. After being ignored for 10 minutes, we decided to walk back to Lofou Tavern. We ordered Village Salad, Grilled Halloumi, Eggs with Courgette and Pumpkin, Cypriot Sausages, Grilled Mushrooms and Grilled Lamb Chops, 2 bottles of water and a large Keo. We paid EUR50. Excellent quality and good quantity. Costas played the Bouzouki and sang folk songs that evening
not much to do but its a nice small traditional village. you can walk around the village, it has a nice architecture. also a nature path. its nice.. but if u stay for many days u can go around the other villages too.
Beautiful in the day and in the night. Two gorgeous taverns and a wine bar. Lofou Tavern was a family run restaruant in the area with real humbling genourosity and charm. Definately take a couple of nights out of your schedule to chill out here.
I stayed in two rooms - Walnut - which was spacious and gorgeous, and Lavender which was smaller but equally lovely and with a more private balcony. I can't wait to return with my children and stay in one of the houses.
There is absolutely nothing to do in Lofou but enjoy a tiny, historic village with beautiful buildings and beautiful vistas. If you're looking for fun and excitement this isn't for you. If you want beauty, quiet, a restful setting in a stunning historic village, this is the place. The two tavernas in town have wonderful food as an extra bonus!
Lofou is a beautiful town that has retained its traditional architectural style with cobblestoned streets and charming stone cottages. The town has two traditional style tavernas and a third which is more like a boutique wine bar. Lofou Taverna and Agrovina (wine bar) were the best places to eat/drink. Everything in the town (church, store, tavernas, children's play area) is easily accessible on foot. The town is also well located with respect a range of other villages up in the Troodos Mountains. If you're looking for what a traditional Cypriot mountain village looks and feels like without the tourists and without having being built for tourists, this definitely is the place to stay.
