Surrounded by picturesque half-timber buildings, this hotel lies in the heart of the historic town center of Gengenbach. Amazing hotel in a beautiful town, located very close to the train station, which makes exploring Black Forest by train very easy. The stuff was very welcoming and helpful. The restaurant is the best in town!
This 4-star hotel features free Wi-Fi, a sauna, and a lounge area with fireplace. It is centrally located in Gengenbach, just 1804 feet from Gengenbach Train Station. Very clean and comfortable room! Welcome drink and fruits are in the room. Staff are very friendly. I would recommend to have a dinner in the hotel restaurant. It’s really impressive. You will enjoy excellent food and service. Spa in the hotel is also very good!
This hotel enjoys a quiet location on the edge of the Black Forest town of Gengenbach. It offers modern rooms, free WiFi, a restaurant and free private parking. Wonderful hotel. It is located just a short distance from the old town, which is only a pleasant 15 min stroll away. We stayed in a balcony room in the new extention. This building is architecturally stunning. The rooms are finished to a high standard and very comfortable. We have also stayed in the older part of the hotel and that room was also very comfortable. The food in the restaurant is excellent, both in quality and presentation. Excellent breakfast. We will definitely return to this hotel.
This historic 3-star hotel lies near the historic town center in Gengenbach, surrounded by Black Forest countryside. The location is perfect. The staff friendly, especially, Christine, who helped us with our breakfasts. Our second visit to this hotel. The free parking was an added bonus. Train station about ten minutes walking.
Set across from Gengenbach's historic quarter, this 4-star hotel on the banks of the Kinzig river boasts a spa area, good Black Forest cuisine, and easy access to Offenburg’s convention center. A very up to standard hotel with a magnificent location. The staff was excellent as well as all the services. The cleanliness was unremarkable also. Great place, I recommend it to the full !!!

For travellers using the public transport, there is a bus stop near by and the Gengenbach railway station is around 5 to 10 mins by walk. Checkin to the property was straight forward. I really appreciate the way the property was maintained and equipped; very clean and comfortable with a very good kitchen. Super markets nearby. We loved the location of Haus Roser in the Gengenbach Aldstat, the apartment was new, very clean and had quality fittings and decor throughout. Our hosts communicated very well and kindly picked us up at the train station on arrival which was very much appreciated after our long flight from Australia. Thank you Thomas and family for your hospitality.

It is a picturesque town with the loveliest timbered houses and a quaint town square. However, there is not much to do in town, apart from walking along the cobbled streets and dining at the restaurants. Most travellers use Gengenbach as a base to explore other parts of the Black Forest - which is exactly what we did. The Gengenbach train station is at the edge of the town centre and a short walk from everywhere.
Gengenbach has a nice historical center with some shops and plenty restaurants. We had diner at Schatull and Pfeffermuhle. Both okay, last one bit more expensive and pretentious. In June it's pleasantly busy, not too much tourism. Around Gengenbach there are lots of routes of long and short nature walks / hiking though the woods. It's also very close to Strasbourg and Colmar in France.
I walked up to a chapel through the Vineyards is very nice. The whole town is also good. The gelato at the corner ice cream store is a bargain. There is a pizza place on the north side of town that gives huge portions reasonable prices.
It’s a great place to visit for its tranquility, old town architecture, wonderful people and good food. if you’re renting a car or if the train system gets more accessible (it was closed while i was there and hence had to use buses everyday which ends up taking a lot of time). I think its a lovely small town which I would use as a base anyday and would travel from there.
Gengenbach is a small traditional town in the middle of the Black Forest. It has a small but very nice old town with several restaurants and bars. It's a good base for exploring the Black Forest. Lots of great walking and lovely scenery. One extra advantage is that, when you stay in a town within the borders of the Black Forest, you have access to free rail travel all around the area. The hotels provide you with a ticket, which allows you to use the trains as often as you like for free. We visited many beautiful towns in the area by hopping on and off the trains. Even managed to get to Baden-Baden some distance away. Really enjoyable trip.
I was skeptical of how cute every guidebook said Gengenbach was. But, they're all right: this place is a beautiful and cozy-feeling town. It's not just the town square: all the little side streets were very pretty as well, and there are flowers everywhere. Are there flower police here?? We ate at a traditional German restaurant that was excellent (sorry, I can't remember the name- it was up NW of the town center, by the north wall), and an Italian restaurant just off the square that was recommended by our Italian B&B host Roberto. Gengenbach is a good strategic location to see the Black Forest- it is only a little bit away from Offernberg, where all the train connections are, but it has a nice hilly forested countryside in the foothills of the Black Forest.
Quite locality just outside the city center. Travelling with a kid I could not have asked for anything better.
Very clean and tidy, very friendly and helpful host (whose family sells excellent berries at the market on Saturday) and the apartment is furnished with a lot of small conveniences missing from many others. Even a little bottle of olive oil and a good kitchen knife. Beautiful views of the village and surrounds, and an excellent location nearby to shops and restaurants. We will definitely stay again when we come back to Gengenbach.
Very friendly welcome and an excellent breakfast including scrambled eggs and bacon cooked to order and to perfection. Centrally located: only a few minutes walk to lovely old town and to the railway station. Good base to explore the Black Forest and the hotel supplies a free train/bus for travel throughout the entire region.
Very kind owners, wonderful neighborhood, nice rooms, comfortable beds. Gengenbach is an extremely nice small town, but there are other towns (Strasboursg, Freiburg, Triberg, Baden-Baden) that are also worth visiting. Certainly hikes can also be done in the Black Forest.
Beautifully appointed rooms in the new hotel, delicious breakfast and delightful staff, all communicating very capably in English. Fabulous local delicacies available in the restaurant for dinner, complemented beautifully with wines from their own winery.
This was a great spot to stay for exploring the Black Forest. This hotel is clean, comfortable, newly refurbished, and located right in the middle of the delightful little town of Gengenbach. It is easy to travel to and from the hotel via train.
We loved the airconditioned room, especially with these temperatures. Staff was very nice, facilities like restaurant, breakfast and swimming pool were great. Short walk to historical center of Gengenbach.
Lovely hotel. Friendly staff. Very clean and comfortable. Huge selection at breakfast. Beautiful garden.
