We like quaint hotels and such and this was right up our alley. Lyndon was wonderful and put a personal touch to morning breakfast with lots of conversation. The bed was super comfortable, there was a large TV in the room and we had a private bath. There was no curfew so we could stay out late. We were also welcome to use the kitchen as needed. Parking in front was not allowed but there was plenty available behind the building.

There was a good choice of items for breakfast and the cooked options were tasty and plentiful. Karen who served our breakfast was attentive & friendly, Maisie who we met at the evening meal had an excellent knowledge of the meals & described a dessert we were considering in wauth watering detail

    We were in the area for visiting family and friends. Barry is not your average holiday destination. Good for beaches if weather is good. The funfair on the Island would be good for thrill seekers. Not like the Fun parks of course. A fairly good base for touring the coastal areas, and Cardiff. There is a fabulous fish restaurant at the Knap area in Barry.

    Beauty of a beach clean walk ways shame this was just the island. Outside where we stayed was multiple people letting there dogs poo without caring (not just tourists) at one point had to step over a fresh pile on entrance to the station docks where kids were spray painting some old buildings despite being fenced off (no one around to report to)

    Barry is the home of Gavin and Stacey and an excellent place to visit plus the Gavin and Stacey Tour was excellent and a must for anyone wanting to see more of the points of interest around Barry and Barry Island

    Completely run down awful access and not terribly clean felt a bit like a bad run down version of Southend on a bad day! Lots of beggars homeless and refuge places plenty of weatherspoons though awful

    Barry is built on a hill so not for the faint hearted.

    Barry is built on a hill so not for the faint hearted. People were friendly plenty choice to eat out and plenty of coast line to walk. We also drove to the Big Pitt well worth a visit which takes you underground in a real coal mine.

    Barry Island was nice, plenty for the younger children to do, not sure if there is enough for teenagers. There is an area if I remember called the "Shed Store" something like that, anyway it has a few food outlets a few Cafe's and shops and at least one bar, well worth a visit. It looks like there is going to be quite a few developments in the coming years so we will definitely be going again.

    Very good, helpful staff on the desk. The room I stayed in I thought could have been better. The floor was a bit creaky and the view out of the window wasn't very good just staring at some ladders and a concrete ground with walls around. But OK for a night or two I suppose! The hotel itself is a bit of a walk up a big hill from the train station in Barry but if you have good legs then you'll be fine, otherwise maybe a taxi! The room I stayed in had a great shower and TV / kettle facilities.

    The Roost on the Rock was a lovely place for us to stay on our trip to Barry Island. All the instructions to get into the room were emailed in advance so you don’t need to disturb anyone. The room (Woodpecker) was delightful. A small, clean, cosy room with a shower and two sinks. A coffee machine and even dressing gowns! The bed was so comfy and the skylight in the room was lovely too. We will definitely come again and try the pub next time! Thank you!

    The property is in a quiet location within walking distance of a supermarket and a nice pub. It’s around 25 minute taxi journey to the Cardiff city centre and also 3 miles or 10 minute taxi to Barry Island. The beds are comfortable and all the rooms are big. Nice bedrooms and shower rooms are split between ground and upstairs.
