Airybank Guest House Private ( Full House ) is set in Dalkeith, 9 km from Butterfly & Insect World, in an area where hiking can be enjoyed. Absolutely amazing stay. Very comfy big bed. Big apartment and access to two different bathrooms. More than enough space for the little children to play with the toys we found in the wardrobe. Kept them busy all afternoon. Very clean, lovely decorated and very welcoming. Very much wish we had a place like that. Loved every second of it and will definitely come again!!
Even though next to main roads it is a lovely quiet area surrounded by alot of greenery, with the garden centre and shops within. There is also the butterfly house although we didn't get time to visit. There are good reviews though. Good public transport into Edinburgh, very frequent buses and reasonably priced.
We loved the area and the weather was great for the weekend. We ate in the local Dobies Garden Centre and it was easy to get into Edinburgh. The location of the Innkeepers Lodge just couldn't be better there are a few very nice eating places to choose from within walkng distance. And don't let the weather put you off there is inside shops in the Garden Centre next door.
The owners were both very accommodating and friendly, they made sure we were made to feel at home and provided us with all essentials and happy to assist in anyway It is an amazing property and having the owners next door is a real bonus We will definitely be returning
Husband and I originally from Dalkeith area so it was like coming home for a visit. Nice commute into Edinburgh but lots of local amenities on your doorstep too. We wanted to visit the Christmas Market in Edinburgh and decided to travel by train from Wallyford Station to Waverley Station. Kids travel free so for two adults, 2 children plus one infant it cost £7.40 return. Great!
Walking around Mason Gardens, Beaton Park and Point Resolution Reserve are my favourite places to go. Yabba Dabba restaurant has great food on Waratah Avenue. Nedlands and Claremont also nearby with great food options.
Dalkeith itself was unattractive, but the location of Melville castle outside Dalkeith was lovely and very handy for Edinburgh. We drove to Eskbank Station and took the train in to Edinburgh which was easy to do and very convenient.
The staff at Glenarch are second to none. The room was beautiful; completely tasteful and well equipped. The location is outstanding; squirrels frolicking, the sounds of the river Esk. You can't have this kind of classy stay elsewhere in the Dalkeith area. I intend to return.
Beautiful hotel. Staff were amazing, especially with our children. A special thanks to Timmy and John. Will definitely return when we next visit Edinburgh.
good size of living and bedding areas
Good clean hotel.
