We drove into town to find a disabled car parking space for our tall vehicle so we could go shopping. The large carparks had height restrictions. We couldn't find any designated spaces - even after asking the PCSO's. After a fruitless search trying to avoid the multiple signs for one-way or traffic enforcement cameras, we went to Halifax instead where speeding and inconsiderate drivers were less plentiful .
Huddesfield is a surprisingly lovely town. It has bars and clubs on every corner so you're never going to get bored. The cafes and coffee shops are lovely and we had a lovely time shopping. There's a lovely big shopping center as well as lots of independent shops too. It's reasonably priced and very clean. We had a great time.
I grew up in Huddersfield, so I know it’s a great location for the Pennines- walking & cycling. The town has great pubs & cafes, & shops in a compact centre. Huddersfield is a good base to visit The Hepworth museum, Hockney at Saltaire Mills, Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Huddersfield is a multi cultural town, with a vibrant University. It has interesting architecture, & excellent transport links.
Huddersfield is well placed to visit many parts of Yorkshire We went to Halifax and Leeds. Great bus connections to all areas and so cheap. Why waste cash on petrol and parking when a return bus tickets cost just 4 quid
My home Town has gone down the pan and in all honesty it's an absolute eyesore on the way in for anyone thinking of staying over. The surrounding countryside is gorgeous but the Town itself is rundown and dirty. All the roads in are potholed to such an alarming extent it's a very uncomfortable driving experience. Grass verges are unkempt and litter and rubbish is everywhere you look. Breaks my heart everytime I go back to see how far this once architectural gem has fallen. Only saving grace is St Georges Square with it's simply magnificent Railway Station.
Go to Yorkshire Sculpture Park in Wakefield, a great day out. Book online before you go - £6 for adults, free for kids. Visit Marsden and walk down the canal to Sparth Reservoir for a spot of outdoor swimming.
We have stayed in this hotel for over 10 years while visiting family locally (it was previously a Premier Inn). Our children (now 11 and 8) love visiting, and the staff (who I was delighted to see have stayed) are fantastic. We always get a warm welcome, the room is always spotless and even though its next to the motorway it's very quiet with a lovely pub next door. Don't hesitate to stay here.

The rooms were a replacemant by Stay Suites. Due to an error , we were not booked in to our stay suite despite being charged by booking.com. Fortunately, stay suites were very understanding and provided rooms at the nearby stay hotel Huddersfield. The hotel was excellent and we were not charged extra.
Hotel is new renovated, room size is reasonable for 2 persons. No air conditioning. Window is small which is not enough in summer. Shower is ok. Hotel is 2-3 min from cafe, restaurants and less than 15 min to train station. 5 min to university
The location is perfect. Right in the city centre of Huddersfield. Plenty to do and shop around this hotel. Lots of restaurants and convenient stores. Just 2 minutes walk to the University of Huddersfield.
That the property exceeded my expectation, that the house manager, Vincent and the whole staff are great, that it’s location is very close to the university, the train station and the city’s centre.
Breakfast was fine with lots of choice. It came highly commended by previous guests. The hotel was nicely situated for people visiting the Pennines but you might need a car.

I'm not really sure of anything though. I had to pay extra when I extended my stay for another day. I had to stay extra night cos I was somehow stranded.
