The staff at Cedar Court Huddersfield are extremely professional and helpful in all departments. Good breakfast choice with cooked options if you ask. Evening food is delicious and nicely presented Good choice of gluten free options. Nightmare getting AWAY from a John Smiths Stadium concert! Gridlocked around the stadium for 2-3 hours. Many taxi firms refuse to do pick ups at this time. Seek refuge in The Yorkshire Rose pub next to the Stadium. Hope Hotel could put on a return transfer somehow! First concert right next to a hillside covered in trees! Beautiful Yorkshire countryside with lots to see and do so close by.
Born in Huddersfield came to London at the age of 9, I am how 62 have been back 3times it has not changed that much I feel it could do with a real revamp it is a lovely place people are friendly and polite but it does need updating.
It's easy to get around on foot. There are a lot of interesting looking places to eat. The Turkish cafe did a great breakfast platter that was absolutely the highlight of my stay. A lot of the town feels run down and at night a little unsafe. There are some okay nightlife spots, but on Friday night they were nearly empty, as were most of the eateries I passed.
Huddersfield (despite the fact that it has TWO Wetherspoons) is a very forward-thinking town for pubs and real ale in particular...two excellent pubs at either end of the railway station proves this point. Maybe being a university town makes it a popular place for thse things, but It only takes 'short' bus ride into the local villages to enjoy the scenery, brown stone buildings and decent chippies (and more pubs) if you run out of things to do. Amazing town hall (decent gigs) and a couple of theatres for us culturally-minded folks. Just prepare yourself for getting really cold at certain times of the year.
Loved Beaumont Park. In need of new safer paths but a fantastic Victorian park with beautiful views. Very steep as on a hillside and some unkept pathways so not for those who are unsteady. Castle hill with huge views and a large Victorian tower.
A typical no-frills Yorkshire town but to me the benefit of having a number of excellent Real Ale pubs and superb jazz music on a Wednesday evening far outweigh any negative aspects. There is an excellent railway service from the station to most parts of West Yorkshire and Manchester with some very pleasant walks along the canal towpaths through the town and beyond. The Victorian and Edwardian architecture is quite impressive of typical Yorkshire granite if you take the trouble to look up and around. The railway station frontage is Grade 1 listed and a magnificent example Victorian corporate and civic pride.
First time I've booked a hotel room here and loved my stay. My stay far exceeded my expectations. I needed my room by 2 and they went the extra mile to make sure it was ready and informed me when it was ready. The check-in was a breeze. And the room far exceeded my expectation, very clean and spacious. Everything was spot on. The best hotel room I've had by far. And check-out was seemless. Everything 10/10. And Zara the staff member was very polite and informative. Definitely using Central Lodge again. Thanks guys.
Huddersfield
Traditional inn that keeps the spirit of West Yorkshire alive, just a short drive from Huddersfield. Well maintained, clean and cosy rooms, no noise from outside even though the restaurant was busy. Comfortable bed, good bathroom/ toilet/ shower, loved the coffee machine with pods, which is way better than the minimal pouches of cheap instant that others offer. Staff was courteous, food was great. I would definitely stay again.
Huddersfield
it’s a beautiful property , lovingly furnished with beautiful eclectic pieces of decor . we had 5 rooms for our group each were a very good size , clean , & contained all you could need for a short stay . the hotel was warm & comfortable. Location wise a mere 10 mins walk from Huddersfield station /centre or £4.80 in a taxi . The staff were friendly & keen to help in anyway .
The hotel is beautifully decorated and the staff are so amazing and are willing to do anything they can to make you comfortable. My partner and I had a wonderful time. The room was very clean. Towels, robes and general necessities were provided. Truly a gem in Huddersfield. I would go back again and again.
Huddersfield
great location, just in front of the University of Huddersfield. has a separate kitchen, the room is very quiet, and cannot hear the noise from other rooms in the same building. got a small radiator and the heating to keep the room warm
The Hotel phoned day before I was due to stay to say room had been flooded and I was unable to stay as there wasn't an alternative room. Not the staff's fault, so review is written for the call received.
Briar Court Hotel was very good. Reception was very smooth and friendly. Room was spotless and well equipped with a very comfortable bed. Th cooked breakfast was superb.
We love this hotel always stay when visiting our son just sorry they didn't get it right this trip normally we are very satisfied
property is in a central location, super clean and comfortable, staff was also very polite and helpful.
