Chef Micky not only made me feel very welcome, he also made the BEST breakfast! All kinds of choices and I had eggs and bacon. I loved looking out the window to the bay. I also loved the coffee!! Parking very convenient. Restaurants, shopping, the wharf, docks all right there. Historical buildings abound and The Grand Hotel is among the very best.

If Norlande was a Hollywood movie, I would say it had the highest production values! Amanda's communication was excellent, which I valued during a very erratic journey to Shetland for a funeral. The room was beautifully decorated and had everything I needed. It was a well positioned room, with a great bathroom and facilities, especially the monsoon shower with built-in radio. The bed was so comfortable, better than any of the big brand places, and I slept so well. The breakfast hamper was a delight and had more than enough supplies and snacks, which kept me going at breakfast and even at night at the end of a long day. The location is just 8 mins walk from Commercial Street and the main strip with its bars, restaurants for lunch and dinner, and for the shops too The Isleburgh Community Centre, Town Hall, and new library are all a short walk away. A taxi from the ferry to Norlande cost £4.50 with Allied Taxi (book ahead!), or you could walk in 15 mins on a drier day - they DO happen 😆 Amanda herself is very hospitable and welcoming. I would recommend Norlande any day.

Beautiful town. Fascinating center with so many beautiful alleyways. Safe. Picturesque. Walkable. Friendly people. Many businesses open late and close early. Most restaurants open in the afternoon for a few hours. Very windy. Great and easy bus transport withing town or other parts of the isand.

Lerwick has so beautiful views.

Lerwick has so beautiful views. The town is a typical Scottish 1970s town. We visited in Mid October and found many of the eating places to be closed for a holiday. Most of the shops are closed on a Monday and a Wednesday. Lerwick was easy to park and walk around.

This was a great place to explore Shetland from.

This was a great place to explore Shetland from. But important to have a hire car, to get to all the different sights, and booking restaurants in advance is important, even if it's just for the following night, although the takeaways were a great backup.

Lot of small businesses have closed. Still interesting! Quirky shops not found elsewhere. Nice eateries. Harbour area interesting. Da Lodberries iconic . Many parts identifiable from Shetland TV series. Great textile museum featuring amazing skills of knitters. Main museum remarkable given its size. Mareel has good films.

Quaint unspoiled village with wonderful harbour and views. You can take local buses around if you dont have car. Beware Sunday as all closed and can’t even buy a coffee!! This was a shock as on the Saturday place teeming with passengers off the cruise ship- lots of activity with bagpipes and tourist shops on Saturday-

A beautiful part of the world that I want to go back to visit. Shetland Islands are vast and varied and I’ve only scratched the surface of seeing all of its beauty. Lerwick was a great place to start as a base though. Very helpful to access from Sumburgh Airport.

The Podika is a charming, cozy space very well located a couple of minutes drive from Lerwick, with a great view over the sea and a terrace to take it in from. The facilities have everything you need for self-catering, the bed is comfortable and the location is quiet. The hosts could not have been more helpful and obliging. It was very reasonably priced for the quality of accommodation. We travel a lot and this was one of the best places we have stayed in.

Nicely renovated with a very comfortable room with lovely views. Interesting to watch the cruise ships coming and going. There is a restaurant at the hotel serving a good choice of food. Easy to get across to Lerwick on the ferry.

Cosy room with good location on Lerwick's high street. Owners are super nice and thoughtful and will go extra mile for guest's comfort. Take the breakfast, it is worth it. Building is beautifully renovated with nice bathrooms.
