Lowestof is a nice place to visit, and even in August it was not very busy at all. The beaches there are really good for families and children as the sand is very clean. Not too sure about swimming in the North Sea, but some brave souls did !. Good selection of places to eat, and a great surprise was finding a Wimpy - Best burgers ever ;-)

We were with two small children, so most of our time revolved around the beach and the nearby play park! We did have a day at Africa Alive, and that was very nice - right sort of size for young'uns, and with a nice play area and crazy golf too!

I visit a lesser known part of Lowestoft, to the south, with a dog friendly beach, all year round, as the beach at Lowestoft has Summer restrictions for dogs. There are enough cafes and pubs to be able to vary choice, but could do with more public toilets at the dog friendly end or its fair walk to the nearest beyond the CEFAS building towards Lowestoft itself.

I feel that it appeared very run down and the main pedestrian area had a lot of Characters some not in my view sociable people. The Buildings were covered in Bird Pooh and look like they needed a good clean. A lot of shops and venues were closed. The Sea front was a little more tidy and work on renovation seems to be on going. Having visited many years ago and it was a lot smarter. I am sad to say I wouldn't want to visit again.

The town is somewhat run down, not badly but just a little bit. Best place to visit is the Maritime Museum- excellent, outstanding takes your breath away! !.Plenty of places to eat, spoilt for choice from Fish & Chips to a Curry & fine dining!. Pubs a bit limited but the Wetherspoons was very good.

Loved the shopping options for gifts and for charity shops, eateries and coffee shops. Lovely to see local charities represented. Mainly shopped in the Kirkley village area of the town near to hotel. Beach clean and tidy, small stones mainly, but soft golden sand too. Advice boards not to swim near to large rocky areas (erosion protection). Saturday morning groups of wild swimmers meeting, also on the day stayed, Promenade runners emerged at 9am for a mass event. PLan to returnn for more relaxation and fun.

It was a perfect place for me for three days in Lowestoft. A lovely welcome and brief tour of the hotel when I arrived. The breakfast was excellent and cooked fresh by Andy each morning & served by a friendly team. As I was busy I didnt spend much time in the hotel as I would have liked to have a better look round the rooms set out as museums as they looked fabulous even though I have no military background. I'd highly recommend the hotel and would certainly stay there again if I could get in!

Huge sea facing room. Lovely breakfast, friendly helpful staff. It's an old hotel of faded glory, although the common areas were modernised. The breakfast restaurant was lovely. Starched tablecloths etc. Plenty of parking on site. Sm
