Morpeth is a lovely little town with nice shops and plenty of cafes, pubs and restaurants. There is also a nice river walk for those who like to stroll along the pathway or sit watching the river activities.

We really liked Morpeth , we went round the town and had lunch a couple of times. The parking system throughout Northumberland is fantastic, you just paid a £1 for a disc and could park for up to 3 hours, it can be used in most car parks. What a brilliant way to encourage tourism.

The visitor 'shop' was a revelation as it was so much more. Part history library, part art gallery, part sweet shop, as well as friendly tourist information. We enjoyed our 50 minute long "just popping in"!
Don't forget the fascinating Chantry Museum upstairs, to find our ore about bagpipes than you knew was possible!
A lot of small varied and interesting shops, well worth browsing. Plenty of coffee places to snack.
Best of all, a good old large Department Store, Rutherford and Co. Selling quality goods, not too expensive, with friendly helpful staff in all departments plus a small but very tasty café on the 1st floor. A really interesting layout inside to explore.
There are 5 bridges over the river, so it is easy to cross to take a peaceful riverside side walk along the bank away from the traffic.
There is a paid carpark in the centre, and a bigger paid carpark at Morrisons Supermarket ( a short walk from the centre) on the A197 if you are approaching the town from the north.

What a charming place, so clean, interesting shops and gorgeous eating places everywhere. Lovely shopping mall and nicely tiled, very charming. So impressed that we even looked at house prices which to our delight are very reasonable... from our holiday in Northbumberland this year, Morpeth is our favourite town that we visited, just the right size.

Morpeth for us is a relaxing place to go and it's riverside and forest walk are ideal. It isn't great for places to eat if you are there for 7 days but we were self catering so not such a problem, we could find places to go out to eat for half the 7 days, but not the full 7 days. We love Lollo Roso but the meals are far to large for us to have 3 courses, a shame or go every night. We prefered to go To the Premier Inn restuarant at Ashington. where you get variety at a reasonable price.

We did part of the Northumberland Coastal walk (Cresswell to Dunstanburgh) and found the locals to be very friendly. Lots of free car parks near the coast, very well sign posted and plenty of benches.

Large comfortable room with great bathroom facilities with ample parking to the rear of the hotel. Cooked breakfast to order was really good. Staff very friendly and helpful. Morpeth is a beautiful town with plenty to do and a vast array of dining establishments available. Busy town with a nice and relaxed vibe. Certainly book again and would highly recommend
Thank you for making our stay at Newminster Cottage, Morpeth a great one! Our room was bright, well furnished and tastefully decorated. Our breakfast needs were well catered for and Paul proved to be a very good host with plenty of local knowledge about places to eat and where to visit! Parking was available at the B&B too. Highly recommended!
Nicely appointed, newly renovated apartment with king bed in a spacious room. Ideally located in Morpeth as everything is in walking distance. Jon-Paul was super friendly and on hand to deal with some initial issues, which was helpful. The apartment does face the street but it was not very noisy overnight.
Lovely hotel which has had quite a lot of money spent on it. Quiet location but convenient to tour Northumberland as close to A1. Morpeth is a couple of miles away and has some good shops and restaurants. Morpeth has free parking with disc for 3hrs
Location was great - less than a 5 minute walk from the centre of Morpeth. The house was very tastefully furnished and cosy, with everything we could wish for.
