Alan, the owner, was really friendly and helpful. He allowed us to keep our bikes in the entrance hall. The room was lovely and comfortable, there was tea and coffee making facilities as well as a small fridge and water. The breakfast was really good and it felt very tranquil and relaxing.

Friendly staff, great location. Our room was dog friendly and, although not so big, was lovely. Very comfortable bed and really nice toiletries. Breakfast was excellent.

a great town and great beach. Not too commercialised so a great place for families and adults to visit. Plenty to do even if just visit the pier, shops or watch the beach and sea from one of the many benches overlooking the sea.

Beach is good for children.
Beach is good for children. Dog friendly beach outside the town. Swimming in the sea is possible. Old fashioned pier very nice. Plenty of shops and restaurants. Rather expensive though.
We had pub meals in Walberswick and Wangford, because Southwold was too busy with the arts festival.
We walked sections of the Suffolk coastal path with our dog. Some sections were rather overgrown and poorly maintained round Wangford.

A delightful, unspoilt seaside town.
A delightful, unspoilt seaside town. Beautiful beaches, colourful beach huts, old fashioned pier, lighthouse, good High Street. Attractive traditional houses and open green areas. Footpaths across the common down to the river estuary where you can take the short ferry trip across to the village of Walberswick or look at the boats. Excellent fresh fish and chips here or up in the town!

We liked the individuality of Southwold and in particular its art galleries where there is a lot of art work of quality and reasonably priced. The quirky pier is appealing (despite the fact that the splendid water-clock is currently out of order) and the sandy beach is a joy to walk along. Out Saturday night meal at Coasters was one of the highlights of our stay with great food and service. A bonus we appreciated was the fact that parking was free in the car park near the town centre, an absolute rarity for contemporary England!

Beautiful weekend spent enjoying the brewery tour, eating in the swan hotel, a walk along the pier and beach path. There are some very good artisan bakerys, and 2 wonderful fish and chip shops.
Wished we would have had the time to visit the lighthouse.
We were greeted upon arrival and provided with information on the hotel and breakfast times. The room was very clean and well presented. The bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed having a morning coffee/tea on the balcony. Overall, it was a very good stay and we would highly recommend it to others. The hotel is also located within walking distance of Southwold and many footpaths.
Fabulous hotel conveniently situated in the heart of Southwold and a short stroll to the beach. Very attentive service, delicious breakfast and superb room with super comfy bed.
