Boasting a restaurant, bar, terrace and free WiFi, The Bear Hotel is located in Wareham, 656 feet from Wareham Town Museum and 984 feet from Monkey World. The hotel has family rooms. Beautiful beautiful location! The town of Wareham was absolutely gorgeous and perfect location wise for what we needed in terms of exploring nearby areas. Staff were super friendly and helpful in terms of recommendations as well as providing us with anything we needed to help make our stay more enjoyable. I especially took note of how we were shown up to our room and given a little guide, something very small but a much appreciated detail of hospitality - Would definitely stay again!

Charming cottage, comfie bed, lovely bathroom, everything we could have needed all with a warm & friendly welcome. Thank you Jilly & Peter for a thoroughly enjoyable break.
Taxi drivers: Be careful. I went there for a week of using public transport. The first taxi driver I had coming from the railway station to the accommodation, stated that he did not know where it was. in Wareham, when I got there he told me that he had delivered people to the location several times that week and that he lived quite close to it! Dorset Humour I suppose. Had a similar situation going back to the station a week later with another driver. Same outfit. Some facilities such as the town museum are closed. As are the churches I think. Wareham is good but watch out for social distancing in the pubs. The Roman Walls are interesting to walk along. What's left of them that is.
A variety of pubs, restaurants and shops. Due to Covid the museum wasn’t open and there were other restrictions. The quay area is a lovely place to sit and have a meal or picnic or drink.Boats and boat trips were available. Wareham is convenient for visiting lots of attractions including Corfe Castle, Swanage, Holmes gardens, Poole and Bournemouth.
Wareham is a good location for visiting the surrounding area. We were there for a wedding at lulworth Castle. We were only 5 minute drive from the castle. It was a good location for Bournemouth and sandbanks too.
Pretty little place - like going back to the 1950's. Good for a week-end and a base to explore the surrounding areas. Some nice pubs and restaurants. Parking is poor and only an hour at a time in the high street - even on a Sunday. The wardens were out in force as well.
Nice historic town in good position to visit local beauty spots and towns. Interesting shops and an independent cinema, the Rex. River trips and good walking area. Nature and bird reserves nearby as is Swanage seaside town.
Wareham is an ideal riverside town to be based in to explore the Isle of Purbeck, including the local chalk-cliffed coastline like Old Harry Rocks. There are a selection of pubs close to the river, which along with other eateries in the town serve a variety of food. In season it is possible to hire boats, kayaks or take a river trip.
This was my second time staying here, and both times I have enjoyed my stay. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are cozy, and the breakfast is great.
Beautiful grounds, nice location and good food.
