We were amazed with the beauty of the hotel and the surroundings! There are even colorful peacocks walking around! Their inner couryard is fantastic, they even have a fountain and a pond with Koi fishes there! We could have just stayed on the hotel grounds for a week and still would enjoy our trip..lol We might just do that in future. If you are looking for a low key, clean, beautiful place to stay Casa Búho is IT! And breakfasts are very yummy including local fruits! Uber drive to the center of Antigua is about 10 min and cost about $7-8. But above all we loved the staff there. Super friendly, and owners speak English! They are also a very good source of information about the area, culture, and the tours around. I am so glad we stayed there! Margaret and Mitch from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania USA

The hotel is just amazing. Small but beautiful, and with a lot of attention to detail. We loved it. The house has many spaces that are a pleasure to visit and the owners just a pleasure to deal with. It is also centrally located with plenty of "Antigua" around. We loved it.

The rooms are super beautiful, each one with a different art, comfortable bed, super clean bathroom, great and hot shower and a lot of items to make your stay better: shampoo, soap, body lotion, hair dryer, bottle of water, free tea and coffee on the living room. The location is great, easy to get to the main square (like 7 mim walk), a lot of good restaurants around. The famous Café Sky is at the same door as the hotel, great for drinks and food on the evening. Wifi worked super well for working from “home”. The staff were super friendly and helpful, just like the owner of the place, that took me and other guests to a free and pleasant walking tour around the place to meet some nice spots! They also had shuttle service and tours available at the reception. Really an amazing stay there!

    Most beautiful city.

Most beautiful city. Antigua was the historical capital of Guatemala, and was destroyed in an earthquake. The city has beautiful historic buildings, some of them are ruined. The city center (Parque Central) has many Maya oriented people who are celling art crafts and souvenirs to the many tourist. The wear the traditional outfit, not as a tourist gimmick, but as there everyday clothes. In many cases they are working with the whole family including children and babies, and carry their merchandise on their backs and heads. The view point (Miador) is also beautiful. The city has many nice cafes and restaurant and probably the most beautiful Starbucks branch in the world. You can get from place to place easily and cheaply using a Tuk Tuk or Uber.

Amazing place — worth staying at least a week.

Amazing place — worth staying at least a week. We came to Antigua several times from Guatemala City — first to hike Acatenango, then on the way to Lake Atitlán. We loved it so much that we decided to return and stay an extra week. The town is small but beautiful, with plenty of historic sites, cafes, bars, and great volcano views (especially in the mornings). It feels safe and walkable, even at night. There are big supermarkets, local markets with artisanal goods, and many restaurants set in stunning colonial buildings. Even grabbing a coffee at Starbucks feels like a cultural experience. Lots of tourists, great vibe, and options to take Spanish classes. Highly recommended for a longer stay — at least a week if you can.

Within the city of Antigua it's mostly historical sites restaurants and stores use it as a hoping point for hiking volcanoes, hobitenango, coffee tours, and cooking classes otherwise there's not as much to do within the city. I took an amazing cooking class with De La Gente I highly recommend

I never had Guatemala in my schedule - but we went for semana sands (Holy Week) and it was amazing. Very safe, easy to navigate on foot (wear comfortable shoes for the cobblestone streets) and extremely friendly people. Great food, great value, easy to fill a week during festivals - otherwise I thin 3-4 nights would be OK).

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They helped us with all our requests and even let us check in earlier after we came back from the Acatenango hike. Also, this Hotel is super clean as the staff continuously cleans bathrooms etc. We liked it so much that we extended it another night. You can book tours and transportation through the hostel - the tour to Acatenango having a much better price than most agencies - just be sure to book at least 1 day ahead (we were a bit late and therefore it wasn't possible anymore).
