Aquileia is a perfect stop for about 4 hours in total - the museum is very good (a stunning collection of Roman gems and Roman glass along with a well lit and displayed store room for the thousands of other mainly Roman objects found in and around the town)l plus the basilica's roman mosaic floor is exceptional. Around the town there are plenty of further excavated and partially excavated roman sites which you can walk to.

for us it was like a central point to visit some more places around. Grado is a small nice city. the beaches on the left are more for young children. and on the right side, better for adults. also, Venezia was close by, so visited as well.

A cosy hotel in the historic center of Aquileia. We enjoyed its atmosphere! The comfort of the beds exceeded our expectations. The room was cleaned every day. The breakfast was good but also typical for local standards: don’t expect to have some vegetables or omelette. There was a fair choice of cheese, sausage, boiled eggs, bread of different kinds, butter, marmalades, croissants, fruits, yogurts. As for the drinks, coffee, tea, juice and water were available.

Spotless, a very relaxing atmosphere and pleasant staff. The site is a few hundred metres away from the busy main road and the cathedral, a quiet terrace allowing us to enjoy a quiet sunset and birdsong filled mornings. This is a fantastic location on the edge of fertile landscapes, within walking distance of a good trattoria and an excellent hotel restaurant. We will be back ! Ian and Inger

In a beautiful place like Aquileia, this Domus really fits well. It's great for budget traveling, has everything you need (and more) and some of the most welcoming hosts there are. It's the community here, not the place, that makes is to amazing. Free parking nearby, a local Roman church and lots of archeological cites. For travelers, not tourists.

The hotel is above a restaurant, about 7-8 minutes walk from the museum and within 10 minutes to the basilica. There is a bus stop close to the museum, from where one could take a bus from and to the train station. The hotel room is spacious and clean, and the complimentary breakfast, though simple, is good.
