Trieste is a splendid border city on the Adriatic sea. Its history is rich and multicultural and one can enjoy the different architectural styles as one strolls around. Trieste is not too big and therefore very enjoyable to walk. Food is excellent and inexpensive compared to other Italian cities. Manners are very civil among the people (including in the shops, restaurants, and offices), and the pace is quite relaxed. You should not miss a visit to Trieste!
It’s a wonderful stopping off city for a couple of days on the way to or from Slovenia. Castello Miramare was a must-see along with the City Museum of History and Art-Lapidary Garden. The Civic Museum Revoltella had a fantastic art collection, very unexpected in this small town and if you have time, tour Risiera di San Saba, a museum on the place where Italy‘s only concentration camp was located.
The air quailty is horrible, and it's super noisy, and totally overrun by cars and scooters. The pedestrian zone is small. Ljublana, where we visited next, is 100x nicer. Trieste city planners need to eliminate most parking from the city center, add some streetcars and other good (electric) public transit, and prevent the noisy, polluting scooters from destroying the air quality and ambiance. The future success of the city is in peril. It could be wonderful, but it's a disaster right now. There is huge potential if they just eliminate most of the traffic.
Must visit Miramare Castle which is a little far from Trieste. You can take bus number 6 from the central station towards Gringano. The bus tickets can be bought from newspaper vendors. Coffee and croissant were amazing in all coffee shops. Very tasty Indian food at an Indian restaurant called 'Krishna'. All places accept the card.
The historical remains are the most interesting, in particular the Castello San Giusto and the Lapidarium up the hill. They evoke a greek agora above the sea. The seaside is more or less ruined by a number of portuary buildings added to a large and busy 4 way boulevard, plus many docks and a railway station, lots of cars and prohibited accesses, road works, etc. It is a bit like in Genova. People are not very communicative but most of them are helpfull and welcome tourists, unlike other places overcrowded with tourists. Restaurants and food are not extraordinary, even the most reputed ones, except perhaps for sea food (that we did not consume). Overall the food is a bit like in Venezia, that is : much below the Tuscanian standards (not to mention the French ones).
Beautiful city! We thoroughly enjoyed seeing MiraMare; we had new insights into the history of Maximilian and his wife and the political environment of their age. The people were welcoming. The food was fantastic - especially the fish and pasta. Thank you!

The staff were really friendly on check-in, and most obliging with local advice. Room and bed were clean, comfortable and quiet, even given it faced onto the square, which is a benefit otherwise because of its proximity to Trieste’s sights. Breakfast was fine, good range of, for example, pastries, meats, fruit, eggs etc. Checkout easy, we were also able to leave our bags until afternoon departure, and staff happy for us to use toilet and beverage facilities when we returned. Great stay!! A classic Italian city hotel.

This is a really special boutique hotel. The style, design and look is unique, with real class and attention to details. The rooms are beautiful, with an impressive head board, comfy mattresses and wonderful wardrobe. The bathroom had a black toilet and bidet too, and everything you would need for a weekend. They had made a slight mistake with our room and upgraded us without question, and the lovely guy at reception gave me a croissant this morning on the house. Lovely place, will recommend to everyone!

Beautiful, spacious, and nicely decorated, apartment in the great location for exploring and enjoying lovely Trieste. But the view! I literally remained breathless when I first entered. It’s all over the place, la marina, the city, blue see and the sunset sky. Photos don’t do it justice, it’s much more beautiful. The super bonus is the host, most friendly, kind and helpful Nicola. I wouldn’t think twice where to stay next time I visit Trieste.

The apartment has been recently renovated and has all the facilities that you need to travel with a family. The apartment is close to historical places, the “arco di Riccardo” is just 30 meters away, and to restaurants and bares to enjoy an spritz apperil, the king of the drinks at north of Italy.
