We spent 3 nights here in July 2023 as a base for a wedding we were attending at a different venue nearby. We booked two rooms, one for me and my wife and one for our two sons. Rooms were spacious with a very large bed, a balcony area with chairs and plenty of storage room for our clothes and luggage. Pool was great with plenty of sun loungers and chairs and the water was really deep in some sections but also had a shallow child friendly section. Breakfast was fantastic with plenty of options, plenty of food and great coffee. While we were here, we were travelling to a nearby venue for a wedding for 2 of the days and required a taxi for up to 10 people. Taxi company provided a Minibus for us and he turned up on time every day. There's a great little bar area by the pool that serves cold drinks, beer, ice cream, slushes, crisps and sometimes sandwiches etc. There's a supermarket just down the road that you can easily walk to. There's a sports club with tennis court and a good size gym located next door that you can use for a fee. Car park is really big with plenty of parking spaces. There's not a lot going on in the area as It's in a quiet location but the facilities at the hotel are good. Richard

The locals tell me Albergo Italia is the best hotel in Piombino, and I think I know why. It's been here a long time and while it's an old hotel in a small town, it has everything you need and the service is excellent. I had an excellent breakfast and one day I woke up late and missed the regular breakfast time but the two ladies downstairs waited for me and let me have breakfast one hour after the close time. I had a misunderstanding with a service that was supposed to come to the hotel to pick up my suitcase as I was traveling alone and had difficulty with the luggage but when the service didn't show up the owner of the hotel kindly offered to take me to the station himself and gave up a Sunday morning to help me out. Things like these make all the difference in the world. They clearly care about their customer. The hotel is just as someone asked described, an old style hotel, and do not expect any luxuries or frills, but it was cozy and very comfortable. if I have any complaints it's only that the bed was a bit firm for my taste - although that's pretty standard around here. I honestly felt like I had everything I needed and felt very safe. The location is superb. You couldn't ask for better. This is the place to stay if you are staying in Piombino.
