Hotel Athena is set in a quiet part of Spoleto, just a 5-minute walk from the town's escalator, which will take you up right into the historic center of town. Fair to good, receptionist seemed bored but it was a good location room was ok but very cold.
Beautiful, historic Spoleto is in the beautiful mountains of Umbria, The climate is warm and sunny, as are the people. You will experience the famous Italian warmth and relaxed approach to life, and pretty much everything you look at will be lovely. The gelato shop in Spoleto has been rated as the best in the world (I'm told) and did not disappoint!
It's hard to say anything wrong when you travel around Italy under all respects. CULTURE, Wonderful spots, excellent food, nice people. Well, Spoleto and its surroundings meet visitors' most demanding expectaions. Just gorgeous ! Vince
Old town Spoleto is absolutely lovely, safe and easy to navigate. The escalators that run to the top of the mountain are amazing....a little tricky to find, but worth the effort. You can get off the escalator at all the most important sights of the city which is just great. I recommend that visitors take the escalator straight to the top, and then walk down stopping at the interesting places on the way down. It’s an easy walk down hill.
Spoleto is a beautiful old town with a perfect Roman aqueduct, a castle, and a Roman theater, a wonderful Duomo, and very kind people. We have been there twice for 4 days each time and hope to go back again!
Most of all we are glad we visited Spoleto for the first time and stayed in a four star hotel like San Luca. Picturesque it is but certainly it is not as gorgeous as Spello nor as personable. Eating places there are but they are not exceptional. Gelato place is excellent. Spoleto is just not a fun walking town such as Spello or Orvieto. However, if you must see it, two nights would be plenty.
Festival is a very attractive time in Spoleto. Old city is really authentic and charming. Ducale palazzo is worth the trip as well as piazza del duomo,Roman theater, Mercato, opera,st euphemia church. Obviously a lot of fine restaurants serving Italian cuisine at really affordable prices.

I stayed at Hotel Clarici in Spoleto for 3 nights, and it was absolutely fabulous.Perfect location in the central piazza and yet within walking distance of the train station, spotlessly clean rooms, wonderfully scrumptious breakfast, and what can I say about the service at Reception? I can only thank Francesca and Moreno for their warmth and the way they go that extra mile to make guests feel at home! Definitely recommended.

Location. 15 min walk from train station. 15 min bus to city center. It is not close in, but being on the outer limits of a city is often a nice break for a traveler like me who often stays in hostels or b&b within city centers. A nice breakfast was included. Price was a little more than I prefer to pay. The clean room was spacious with nice bathroom. The hotel assistant drove me to train station. Very nice gesture!

This charming apartment is located perfectly in the heart of the best kept secret in Italy… Spoleto! 10 steps out of the apartment you are on the awesome Corso Garibaldi, full of shops, the smell of fresh coffee in the morning, and the smell of delicious pizza at night..our host actually picked us up at the train station, and was available for anything we needed over the three days… really amazing!

Very clean and warm, well equipped and comfortable. Made to feel very welcome by Roberta on arrival and she also very helpfully let us have some kitchen equipment. It is only 5 minutes walk from free car park and supermarket and about 15 -20 minutes walk to the main centre of Spoleto. It is a good base for the rest of Umbria, Assisi which is not to be missed is about 45 mins drive away.

The property is in the heart of old Spoleto. The room is in the home of a lovely family. We had tea upon arrival and then breakfast with members of the family who were very conversant in English and on Spoleto. It was great to learn more of what modern life in an ancient city is really like. They were also kind enough to do a load of laundry for us. We would definitely go back.
