Hotel in Old Town, Perugia
Located a 3-minute walk from Perugia Cathedral, Hotel Priori Secret Garden offers 4-star accommodations in Perugia and features a bar. It is a brand new hotel and it is just splendid. It is located in a historic building, which was carefully and artistically renovated. For example in the entrance hall you can still see the originall painted ceiling. And yet, the hotel is very modern and exceptionally comfortable. Me and my colleague had single rooms, which were absolutely wonderful. The bed was large and comfortable, and the bathroom was very well arranged. They are using very good line of ecological bath products "Kemon", including Shampoo, Body lotion/Hair Conditioner and even a small tube of butter. Really great. The breakfast is absolutely fantastic. There are two large tables of everything one can need: eggs, yogurts, proscutto, cheeses, fruits, sweets etc. The extremely nice lady there serves the coffee - really good, and she remembered which coffee each of us drank on the second day! Talking about staff, they all were just amazing! I don't remember all of their names, Serena was exceptionally friendly and helpfull, but also everybody else there, without exception. We asked them to make for us several reservations for restaurants and a few buisness calls and they absolutely did they best. This is surely not to be taken for granted. It should be also said that the hotel is located in the middle of the historic city, few meters behind the Palazzo dei Priori, which is definitely great location if you want to explore Perugia.

Lovely small and old town which is the birthplace of st Dominic and the gastronomic heart of Umbria (think wild mushrooms, all sorts of pulses, summer and winter truffles, and every possible pork/boar product). Sadly many ancient buildings destroyed by 2016 earthquake but don't be put off - nobody died and little damage to more recent buildings. Visitors VERY welcome as economy needs help. Great excursions to the surrounding hills, breathtaking plain of Castelluccio, rafting. Local restaurants esp "al Teatro" recommended and good value.
Perugia was a good place to do day trips from to other villages in Umbria, many good restaurants, good chocolate made there. LaTaVerna is a good restaurant two other restaurant the hotel recommended were good and reasonably priced.Very clean place.
Spello is a great base for visiting the lovely walled medieval towns of umbria. Great food, art, architecture and friendly welcoming residents.
Great home base for touring Umbria. Tip: drive up to the old town if you plan to have dinner there. Restaurants do not begin serving until 7:30. The funicular quits at 8:00; couldn’t get a taxi or bus at 9:30 p. On a Saturday night! We had to walk down an old, long, dark service road at 10:00 p.m. to reach our car in the free train station car park!
Stunning city with fantastic history. We were visiting to attend the 25th anniversary of the Umbria Jazz Winter Festival Most restaurants provide options for those who are gluten intolerant. Two favorite restaurants - Il Malandrino Bistrot and Antica Cantina di Orvieto. Buy the card which provides access to all of the historic sites. Well worth the 20€. Wear comfortable walking shoes!!
Perugia is a great place to base out of for travel in Umbria and Tuscany. You could spend a day or two checking out the town too and have plenty to do.
We bought an apartment in Fabro, in the historic district, across from the castle. The town is small, no restaurant but two snack bars, post office, and large grocery store. Fabro is a hilltop Umbrian, working class, "real" Italian village, not a tourist spot. It's claim to fame is an intact 12th century castle, which has been converted to apartments. Don't expect English speaking people. Learn some Italian if you want to stay awhile and communicate with anyone. There is a B&B in the castle. Fabro has great views from almost anywhere in town. At the bottom of the hill about 10 minutes from Fabro, is Fabro Scalo. A much larger town with all the amenities for shopping and dining. Fabro Scalo has a train station on the main route between Rome and Florence. Likewise, it is on the A1, the main North-South highway in Italy.
Gubbio is a beautiful ancient hill town. It is worth a visit and is generally easy to get to if in Umbria. There are numerous good restaurants and cafes. Walking the town and the hillside provides many fabulous views of the valley and special discoveries inside the City itself.
Castiglione is small old town, with a big history, on/in a big lake, on the border of Umbria and Tuscany. Beautiful landscapes; excellent wines and food, and the most warm and welcoming "real" people.
Sant'enea is small town Italy with comforts. Grocery store, pharmacy,a pizzeria, and fuel on a ridgeline, central to travelling throughout all of Umbria and Eastern Tuscany. We did 10 day trips from this one location.
This is a destination hotel, not a touring accommodation. But if you are touring through Umbria and Tuscany and want simply to rest and relax for a few days, this is a GREAT spot. The hotel is lovely, the spa is really nice, the pool area is extensive, the restaurant is excellent, the bar is cool. of course, you CAN use this as a base hotel for checking out the area, bu t once you are here, you probably won’t want to leave. And to top it all off, it’s not as expensive as you might expect. Good value, great accommodation.
Perugia
We had a wonderful time here. The hotel, spa and pool were absolutely beautiful, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, the food at their restaurant was fabulous and the room was clean and stylish. We could not have asked for a more lovely place to stay and relax after Umbria Jazz Festival! A special thank you to Danila, who looked after us at the restaurant for dinner and breakfast - nothing was too much trouble - she was so friendly and helpful - five stars to her and all of the staff!
Orvieto
This property is a very special place, in a stunning location high in the vineyards outside Orvieto. The accommodations are very comfortable with lovely bedding and towels and everything you would need for a hotel stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful, including at the breakfast service and dinner. Oh yea, dinner on the veranda gave us magnificent views all around as well as incredibly delicious food and presentation. We highly recommend Locanda Palazone for a lovely stay in Umbria.
This is a small hotel wedged into a number of old houses and a tower in the old walled town of Colvalenza, in the middle of Umbria. It is a lovely place, surrounded by the green heart of Italy, and has lots going for it. The rooms are various in size- mine was a good size, with a small shower room and low ceiling. Not much natural light, but that's normal in these houses. The hotel has a good hotel-style restaurant, which has local visitors from outside the hotel as well as residents.
If you are planning to visit Umbria, Italy or just going on vacation, visit Leonardo at Torre Palombarra, it is a real treat! This amazing small get away in the hills of Umbria is an excellent place to relax and explore. We spent five days in Leonardos hospitality, but we could literally have stayed for months. Leonardo and family with staff are the friendliest and most welcoming I have ever met, and are leading examples for future reference. Thank you for our visit!
Tuoro sul Trasimeno
Family owned agriturismo located in a quiet area close to Lake Trasimeno. The apartments are spacious and the kitchen is fully equipped (with the exception of a microwave). Several good restaurant options are only a 5 minute drive away. The location is great for sightseeing in both Tuscany and Umbria with good road connections. The owners are very helpful and we would recommend a tasting of olive oil from their own olive grove. The property is dog friendly.
We were attending Umbria Jazz and wanted a hotel that was located close to the arena and this hotel was perfect ! the hotel was very traditional to the Italian style and although a little dated was immaculately clean, excellent linens and towels and great air conditioning. car parking at the hotel. lovely continental breakfasts restaurant was closed during our stay was great. Staff were delightful and will certainly book for next year
Staying at the castle was the most amazing experience of our travel in Italy. The castle is incredibly beatiful and is located among the serene hills of Umbria. The owners are a very friendly and hospitable family. They cooked breakfast themselves every morning, made of ingredients grown and farmed at their farm. While we were there, the owners were getting ready to host a wedding, and i can't imagine a more romantic setting!
Perugia
The perfect accommodation from all points of view! Excellent location for visiting Perugia but also other tourist attractions in the Umbria area, the stylish design, the complete and perfectly functional facilities, the astonishing view on the city, the large parking space in the proximity are features for which I appreciate that the apartment deserves a 5 star rating. I also have to mention the kindness of the host.
Amelia
I visit this wondrous palazzo time and time again. It is the essence of Italy - Timeless design, well thought out comfort, walkable location, warm and welcoming staff. Patrizia, the owner, is a beautiful force of nature, greeting guests personally, provisioning the linen cupboards with exquisite vintage pieces, and filling the rooms with tasteful and cozy furnishings. This property is a must on your visit to Umbria.
Beautiful, quaint little boutique hotel. It’s right in the heart of Orvieto. There is a hotel bar that serves espresso, liqueurs, and wine. A nice breakfast every morning. The staff was very helpful and polite. They were a great help booking dinner reservations and a taxi (one of only three in the city). It was just the right hotel for the quaint experience of a small hill town in Umbria.
Immaculately clean, spacious apartment in a great location near restaurants, shopping, historic sites, and public transportation. Decor has a modern Italian vibe and kitchen was stocked with significantly more cooking essentials than I have seen elsewhere. Pleasant window views of ancient tile rooftops and the distant Umbrian countryside. Hosts are very attentive and hospitable.
This was my third visit to the hotel, but the first not during Umbria Jazz. So, the hotel was not as crowded, which enabled us to enjoy the hotel more. The wine and jazz themes are very nice. Breakfast is outstanding. The restaurant is also excellent. It is is close to a mini-metro station, which gets you up the hill quickly. We had a basic room, but it was more than adequate.
This place is amazing. Beautiful views. Very peaceful, olive groves and vineyards everywhere you look. Two very elegant pools. Rooms are modern and clean, we had a stunning balcony. The food was some of the best we had for in Italy. The staff were professional, friendly and accommodating. The town of Orvieto was close by and was one of the most spectacular towns in Umbria.
What a wonderful hotel! A big pool with plenty of beds and shade; simple but comfortable room with sweeping views over the Umbrian valley; typical reasonably-priced trattoria-type restaurant with a terrace with the same view; walking distance from the wonderful town of Assisi....although we didn't...A bus stops outside too. And all that for a ridiculously low price.
The view from our room was so amazing. With the door that opens and a terrace to view the Umbrian countryside, it made the first visit to Assisi wonderful. This is clearly more than a hotel but an upscale experience close to all that Assisi has to offer. The staff at every area were helpful, cheerful and well knowledgeable about the entire area.
The location is super, walking distance to all of the sights, restaurants and shops. The apartment is quite large, very comfortable and had an incredible view from both windows, especially the bedroom window overlooking the Umbrian countryside- Amazing! The host is super communicative and responsive which was really helpful.
Perugia
We had such a relaxing stay here! The view over the hills and valleys across to Assisi is absolutely stunning, the most beautiful in 5 weeks of travel in Italy! The room was large and immaculate. We loved our balcony and having breakfast there in the mornings. We enjoyed our walks into Perugia- a really lovely Umbrian town.
Standard design spacious hotel rooms with modern comfort in a historic building. Free car park with easy access and night surveillance. Excellent breakfast including local specialties. Friendly staff. Perfect location to visit Assisi and the wider Umbria region. It's also close to railway and bus station.
Foligno
We have stayed at this apartment before and it is very nice, well located and comfortable. Very good A/C, Wifi. Nice size and easy to use. Great location for visiting this area of Umbria. Lovely city. Nice owners and active city events. Located on a large property just out of the city center.
