Fabulous oceanfront areas with tons of restaurant & hotel choices. You can walk for miles along the waterfront. Easy access to Erice. Good access to local & regional buses. If you have a car there appears to be lots of parking options. High end stores & trendy boutiques.
Genuine working town. Not much English spoken but using google translate on phone helped. (I shall endeavour to learn language before next visit). The historic quarter has some amazing buildings. Good place to stay as close to port, train and buses. However be aware that tall old buildings and narrow streets do not afford many hotels, b&bs or apartments any outdoor space such as a balcony, or terrace. The island boat tours (€40) finish at the end of September which are worth it for the swimming, snorkling etc., but Liberty ferry operates fast service to local islands (30 mins) return ticket €22. Lots of electric bike hire for touring FavIgnana. You can get a bus or cable car (€9) to Erice which is well worth a visit. Fortresses, churches, fantastic viewpoints over Trapani etc., and amazing cobbled streets. Didn't make a visit to the salt pans but did buy some Trapani sea salt. You can get a train to Masala in 30minutes. Sample the famous wine. Unless you are used to driving Italian style I would not recommend it. There are good bus and train services if you want to get around without booking a tour e.g. coach style bus to airport €4 versus taxi €30. Moscuito repellent essential. Plenty of cafe's and bakeries who sell fresh pizza and pasta. Go to Ligny tower end of port for a few local fresh fish eateries. If self catering plenty of supermarkets, green grocers, fish mongers. If I visit again would do a Mon-Fri for Trapani or do a week to include a visit by coach transfer (2hrs) to Palermo for a couple of days.
It was a good introduction to Sicily, prices for food and drink were extremely reasonable and the quality was excellent. Be prepared that in many establishments English is not widely used or understood. Menus can be a challenge if you have a preconceived idea of what constitutes 'Italian' food.
The place is nice to spend a week there, you can enjoy small beaches, a lot of restaurants and shopping in historical city center, nice atmosphere. There are lots of options to do if you don't stay in Trapani - Erice, Islands, Palermo, SanVito lo Capo and other places are avaliable to visit in a day tour.
Trapani is a good destination with interesting museums and archeological sites nearby, the bus and train service is excellent. We stayed at Trapani destinations B&B which is a well designed apartment with lots of interesting features. Very comfortable and spotless, with air conditioning and an excellent breakfast served by Davide who is a really helpful host, with, fortunately for us, very good English. Nothing is too much trouble, he is very keen to help with directions, travel arrangements etc. A mine of local information. The old town is about 5 minutes walk away, with lively bars and good restaurants. The sea at the port is just a short distance away but the port quietens down around 10.30 so the apartment is peaceful. The small town beach is okay. We went to guilliano beach but really the next beach along is better. You can get a 21 bus from just across the road from the apartment or a 23 to the cable car for Erice. Just up the road is a small very popular snack shop takeaway, superb chips and panatelle a kind of potato pancake, really delicious, eat them down by the waterside. Cheap as chips. If you are on a budget we think you would find it hard to get better value than Trapani Destinations B&B.
In September, Trapani was not completely overun with visitors, so it was possible to get the feeling of the 'real' town. Trapani is full of things to look at- buildings, fishing boats; beaches; shops. Plus, it's possible to visit other interesting sights less than an hour away by public transport. Cafes and restaurants abound. Within Trapani, pretty much everything is accesible by foot. Taxis are available and buses (though these need some perseverence to find out the details ! We were lucky- there was nothing we would avoid another time.

My first experience of traveling to Italy was just amazing! The host is very attentive, I'm very grateful for all the assistance and arranging the transfer from/to the airport, and recommending special sight-seeing and providing with a city map! Spacious apartment, was very thoughtful to leave a couple of two bottles of water in the refrigerator and Italian biscuit. Very clean & tidy Closed to the city centre, walking 2-minutes distance to the nice beach.

Great place, great location, great host Salvatore! We had a great breakfast which Salvatore prepared on the terrace on the roof of his house, he mixed traditional sweet light Sicilian breakfast with things like ham, cheese and eggs which we are used to have in Poland. He gave us some advice not only about Trapani but the rest of Sicily as well. Welcomed and farewelled us with some hot espresso. Totally recommendable! Thank you and greetings Salavtore!

We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend at Duca di Castelmonte. The tent was very well equipped and apart from mattresses that were on the hard side, very comfortable. Restaurant was amazing, great value and hospitable! Food amazing and setting perfect! The pool was gorgeous and we had it to ourselves almost everytime we were there. Staff all lovely and very helpful! A treasure that I’m glad we found because it made our stay in Sicily!!
Trapani
The location was very close to the cable car to Erice and the old Town and parking was easy to get to by car. The history of the house and our hosts family made the stay very special for us. Augistino and his staff were very attentive and suggested resturants and made reservations for us. He also suggested must see spots in Trapani to visit. We were sorry to have to leave this garden spot.

Serena is amazing! She is so friendly and passionate. She will explain to you in detail all the attractions in the city. The hostel is very clean and the kitchen is very big and nice. Trapani is a pretty small town. I didnt had a lot of expections when I came, but it ended up to be one of my best stays in Italy. (thank you again for getting me the medication when I was sick :)
Trapani
The B&B is very well located, right in the middle of the main street of the historic center in Trapani. Maria was extremely nice to me, gave me tips about the ferry to the islands and even landed me a parasol for the beach. The shared bathrooms were always clean and there were useful things like liquid soap and paper tissues. I would recommend for a short stay.
Amazing B&B in the center of Trapani. The apartment we had was very big and cozy (Mastro), it was a two storey room wirh a kitchen and two bathroom. The employees were very friendly and helpful! The breakfast area was small but cute with delicious specialities from Trapani and Sicily. I would definitely go back there. Also it‘s directly located at the sea.
Trapani
In short, this is the best B&B I've stayed in Italy. Facilities are excellent and super clean. Location is perfect for downtown trip. In addition, staff is very kind and helpful for every concern about stay and trip. Though there is not private parking space, street parking near hotel is very easy and cheap.
Great hotel, very friendly staff. Rooms were cleaned each day - fresh sheets and towels. Locations is great, although noisy late at night as it is on the main tourist street. Reception is open 24/7. Good air conditioner, big room. Spectacular view from the room, right next to the cathedral.
Trapani
The location, the breakfast, the host were all excellent! We hadn't had such a great and rich breakfast nowhere in Italy at an B&B. The room was big and clean, with everything we needed. And the host extremely kind and welcoming. We had a great stay there!
