Vicenza is a wonderful secret gem located between Verona and Venice. The town exceeded my expectations of an old Italian city. Even though there is a US military base located there, the town is very authentic. The city is very user friendly and walkable. We rented e-bikes one afternoon that were fun to travel around on. We also did day trips to both Verona and Venice which were easily accessed from Vicenza.

Vicenza is a great city to use as a base when visiting Northern Italy. an hour from Venice, an hour from Lake Garda, and 20 minutes to Padova make it a perfect jumping off point. In addition, the city does not have the huge crowds of Milan, Rome, Florence, Venice and Naples.
I thoroughly enjoyed the architecture and wonderful mix of restaurants.

Vicenza has all the beauty and history of the great cities...
Vicenza has all the beauty and history of the great cities of the region, like Padua and Verona, but none of the tourists. It's much smaller and compact - you can walk from one side of the city walls to the other in 25 mins - but all the better for that. And the major attractions are the Palladian villas and civic buildings, both in the city and in the hills around the city, all easily walkable - no need for a car. It's a great base for exploring the other attractions of the Veneto by train: Venice in 40 mins, Padua in 25, Verona in 35 (and those are the cheaper regional trains, not the high speed Frecciarossa at 3 times the price but barely faster for these short-hop destinations). Not being a tourist hot-spot, the prices are lower: you can still get an espresso for 1 euro, and that was in the cafe (Caffe degli Artisti) next to the major draw of the Teatro Olimpico, Europe's oldest covered theatre. Superb variety of good value pizzas (and excellent beers) at the Pizzeria Vesuvio nearby. And for something different, go to the Parco Querini: an attractive park but what we didn't expect were the dozens of domestic rabbits hopping all over the place: brown, black, white, spotted, long-haired. Very surreal. Coypu too, swimming in the lake and water channels.

Vicenza is superb for about 3 day stay - to recover our tastebuds after Germany - and is charming for that period. There were a number of exhibitions and museums (and the Theatre Olympico is a must) together with pleasant food, wine and company

We were only in Vicenza for 2 full days so we went to the ticket office and purchased a pass to visit 4 museums/attractions. We used 3 on just the first day so went back for another 2 on the second day (6 in total). Each one was terrific and well worth a visit. There are endless cafes and restaurants so we were never short of somewhere to sit and relax and enjoy great food and drink. Also lots of great shops.
Our hotel was very central so everything was within easy reach. For those who record their steps each day, we did a bit over 10,000 each day - very manageable.
The best about this hotel is everything. The personal touch, the location, the quality of the rooms, breakfast and price. It will be my only hotel to stay in Vicenza. The most important thing is that you can check in at any time not as other hotels offer only check in until 21.00.
great small hotel with warm rooms. during the winter in Italy you can reconsider you hotel choice because of room temperature. I felt very good there and bed is very comfy. breakfast is great considering the price range. stuff is very nice and welcoming.
Nice breakfast. Good location if you are traveling outside of Vicenza because it is close to highway.
Clean rooms, polite staff. Shopping mall next to the hotel.
