This is a delightful little b&b that is somehow both in the middle of the village and yet was so quiet and felt secluded. I travelled solo this time but this was a great stay for a couple.

Villa San Giovanni is a place of transit.
Villa San Giovanni is a place of transit. It is very small, not very pretty and when we were there, the "lungo mare" was still under construction. Villa San Giovanni is perfect as a base to go to another place, as the trains are well connected and easy but don't expect something from the city itself.

While my wife and I don't speak any Italian and she speaks just a small amount of English we were able to communicate without much trouble at all. The location was perfect for my wife and I as we were attending a wedding that was just 5 minutes away and it was just a 10 minute drive to the beaches in Scilla and 15 minutes to Reggio Calabria while being situated in an area that was quiet and peaceful with an amazing view of the Messina Strait and Sicily.Frank PSwitzerland

Large terrace for drinks and meals, and beautiful views. You can easily visit Reggio Calabria from here (it's only a short drive away) and enjoy the atmosphere and relaxation after sightseeing. Beautiful sunsets, views of Stromboli and a lovely coastline to visit as well. If you are going to Sicily it's a 10 minute drive to the ferry.

However, that should not deter visitors, as once in the property the pylon is not visible, and you have a great view across the Strait of Messina to Sicily.
