We ordered a Fuji facing room but were very disappointed to see that the room on the 6th floor’s view was blocked by a high rise building about half a kilometer away. I asked the receptionist if we could have a higher floor, and after a 10 minute search, said we could have the 10th floor room but it would cost an extra 2,000 yen ($12). Of course we agreed and the honest receptionist asked if we really wanted it, as the forecast the next day was cloud and rain, and did we really want to spend the money. We said the weather was our problem, no fault to him, and yes, we would take it. Lucky for us, the next morning we woke to a glorious view of Mt. Fuji, in a comfortable, clean room, with a high regard to the honesty and integrity of the reception personel. We enjoyed the Western breakfast as opposed the the Japanese breakfast, especially as it was served to us in a Japanese styled private room, overlooking a beautiful pond, where we saw the children feed the Koi fish on the way to school

Comfortable location, just 2 mins walk from the Gotenba station. Great if you plan to visit/climb Fuji and use buses a lot. Spacious room, with well-equipped bathroom. All you may need, plus a small fridge and a kettle. We had very good night's sleep. Good breakfast, a lot to choose from. Overall wonderful value for this price! The switcher for the main light in the room was hard to find, but that's the only complain we can have :)

Hotel Square Fuji Gotemba is a great place to stay that is in a the perfect location for visiting the Mt Fuji region. The staff at Hotel Square Fuji Gotemba are very friendly and welcoming : ) They provide comfy pyjamas, the bed was very large and comfortable, location is quiet, the main room and bathroom is very large by Japan standard. The room and bathroom are infact larger than most hotels we have stayed at in Australia. The hotel star rating system is under rating this place as it is much better than other places we have stayed in Australia that had same star rating but Hotel Square Fuji Gotemba was so much more fancy. Amazing lighting system to touch located on bedhead. There are lots of great dining options to choose from just minutes away. Gotemba Premium Outlets are just up the road as well

    Everything about Gotemba is excellent and magical. Gotemba is one of the most significant epicenters for adventure and sightseeing in all of Japan. It is of course an exceptional gateway to hiking and adventuring on Mount Fuji using the Gotemba, Subashiri and Fujinomiya 5th Station traiheads. Hakone-Yumoto onsens/spas and Lake Ashi are also right in the area. Free shuttle buses offer a 20 minute ride straight to the Famous Gotemba Outlets if shopping for 15 hours is what you are in the mood for. Don't forget Odawara Castle just down the way or Fuji-Q and the Fuji Speedway just up the way, to name a few. Gotemba ROCKS! Mount Fuji and the Osunabashiri descending trail are really the #1 world class attraction among many. Furthermore, all the special local people who support all the vast Gotemba opportunities are the best and truly loved.

    We came to Gotemba because we wanted a base from which to...

    We came to Gotemba because we wanted a base from which to climb Fuji and the hotels offered an onsen which was far more reasonable that some of the other hotels in area. There is a bus that runs from the train station to the 5th station where you can start your climb - just make sure you exit the station on the right side! (left as you come up the stairs from the trains) Most useful if you've got a car otherwise I think I'd have stayed elsewhere

    We found the hotel was easy to locate and noticed several signs with the hotel and the distance (kilometers) to the hotel. Hotel parking area was conveniently located near the elevators and with good lighting. We found a great yakiniku place within a 10 min. drive from the hotel and saw many other options for places to eat. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful on explaining the hotel facilities. If we stayed for more than one night we would have been interested if there were places within walking distance of the hotel.

    I lived there for 7 months 3 years and some change ago, but with COVID-19, the city has taken a big hit. Tourists were there, but not as many as before. The places I'd recommend to eat at before are no longer there, too. If you're considering coming to Gotemba, thoroughly do your research and partake of neighboring cities like Mishima, Numazu, Hakone, and Odawara.

    It was modern looking, yet simple, and very clean. It’s about 5-7 mins walk to Tomei-Gotemba IC bus terminal which makes it convenient to get to Premium Outlets. It’s also near many food outlets which are within walking distance as well. Not crowded and relaxing being away from the bustle.

    Centrally located and within walking distance to a lot of restaurants and there's a dedicated parking lot for our car. It took us less than 20 min to drive to golf courses, premium outlet and fuji speedway.
