Kai Tulum is set in Tulum, 1.1 km from Tulum Archeological Site and has a garden and a bar. The location was beautiful set amongst sand dunes and the protected park The accommodations were wonderful - brand new cathedral thatched hut was superbly crafted with whitewashed wood finishes, spa like shower but with a beach feeling Only 11 huts so not crowded Some of the areas south are too crowded and trying to hard to be a wellness resort ! There is a public beach to the north but the people coming through to the beach were all decent The staff was excellent and service top notch Restaurant food was great I’ve been to Tulum before and some of the resorts further south are packed tight together and are better to visit and have a drink or eat Kai Tulum is affiliated with Hotel Pescadores which has a restraurant also that is quiet with great food Walk to the Tulum ruins but go early ....fun beach clubs on either side that a very hip & local vs the “trying too hard” to be the latest hot spot We enjoyed the available boating on our beach Easy access on a boat to snorkel on the reef or go fishing This isn’t available further south We went deep sea fishing which was so much fun We enjoyed Happy Tour group on the beach Great young guys all with smiles Kai Tulum was wonderful The chef cooked our freshly caught fish into a world class ceviche Be sure to have their mohitos!

Unfortunately the seaweed kept us from enjoying the beach as much as we’d like. The beach clubs were fun, great food and drinks and the resorts are really nice. However for us The most fun parts we’re renting a scooter and driving to cenotes or into Tulum and getting to do our own thing/experience this unique Mexican town.
Tulum had a great cruisey, safe vibe. Everyone hires bikes to get around. They are cheap and it's flat and easy. You can hire them in lots of places. The Cenotes are gorgeous. You need a taxi to take you to the cenote park just out of town. You can get a local shuttle bus but it will leave you on the side of the highway where you will need to get across and walk 3 kms down a dirt road. Do a deal with a taxi driver to take you right to the ticket station and either wait or come back for you. It's worth it for the ease and enjoyment of your day. The park is pretty and Cenotes beautiful. You can swim and the life jackets are free for timid swimmers and children. The ruins by the beach are interesting but it's very hot to walk around so choose your time of day wisely. Otherwise it's fun to ride into town at night for dinner and shopping. Enjoy
A bueautiful place to visit with stunning beaches and great food! A nice change to Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Rivera Maya as it much more bohemian and boutique. We used cycle bikes to get around but also taxis are relatively cheap. I recommend going to ziggys beach club for sunset and visiting the ruins early in the morning before the crowds come. The earlier the better! Gitano is a cool place to go for drinks but dinner I would say was very average.
Now I understand why an American tour guide in his review called this place a Tourist trap. Must be the most expensive slum area in the world. Nothing particular to see in the area. Very run down. Not very service-oriented people, nor professional enough for Western tourists. Prices in restaurants are like in major European cities, whereas the quality is no where to be matched. You cannot swim in the ocean, it is too windy. Stay away from this place.
Tulum is a small town but with lots to see! The food and drinks are amazing in downtown and the beach. Of course the beach is more expensive and the beach clubs offer minimum spends for the use of the beds but that’s to be expected. We went to Ziggys and stayed all day and bought food and drinks sontheyvremoved the fee which was so lovely! The people are friendly and welcoming. The live music in the bars as you walk around creates a great vibe. Batey do seek the best mojitos, as all the research had pointed out I will confirm this! If you wonder the back roads off the main strip you’ll see how the locals live and find great food and drink spots, which ultimately you get more for your money there. Make sure you take Mexican pesos they appreciate it and loads of places are cash only!
What was great was the architecture and ambiance of the eco-chic hotels, the food at the local restaurants and the beach clubs. As for weaknesses, it's the extreme humidity, which was difficult to tolerate (AC at night is a must), the presence of sargasso and big waves at the beach, making it challenging to swim, as well as the absent-mindedness of some of the staff in the tourism industry.

The location is terrific, right on the beach. The resort is well taken care of with hammocks throughout the property. The staff is friendly and there are always taxicabs waiting right outside of the hotel. There is a restaurant on site and it is within walking distance to other beach clubs, the Tulum ruins and a market with shops and restaurants. You can also rent bicycles on the property to ride around the area. The only drawback is that some of the roads are very narrow with limited or no sidewalks so being careful is a must.

Such friendly staff who went above and beyond in making it a comfortable stay. Lovely clean rooms and a perfect pool area with lots of lounging spots. An oasis to return to after a day of sightseeing! Bike rental was fairly reasonable and a good way to get around (it’s a 20-30 min cycle to the beach) but it was about 3 minute walk from the main town of tulum. Lovely rooms with a HUGE double bed and great breakfasts too. Really good value for money (especially compared to prices of hotels on the beach!). Would highly recommend

Great location albeit not on the main section of Tulum beach, but nice views. Our room was on the other side of the road but near the pool so our son was very happy, particularly as the sea was very rough during our stay! I think it was located in a quieter section of Tulum beach hotels which was nice. Restaurant was nice and staff were friendly and welcoming and really great with our son who is 8! Nice restaurants and bars in walking distance. On site car park.

If you are looking for a cheap place to stay in the amazing Tulum hotel zone on the beach, this is it. The place is not perfect but for the price you pay it’s a good deal. It’s a fun place, bamboo everywhere. Double bunks, unlike some other reviews I actually found the showers to be hot and of an ok flow rate. Stay here 2 or 3 nights, enjoy the restaurants and beach, then head into town for shared hostel facilities at another place.

A tranquil oasis in the heart of Tulum. I couldn’t have hoped or asked for a better stay. Beautiful rooms / hotel, incredibly comfy bed, and scrumptious breakfast to get you started for the day. All topped off by Erwin, the owner, who not only treats you as if he is welcoming you into his own home, will help you with anything need be. Would highly recommend and would love to be able come back again!

The lack of facilities can feel liberating for a few days, and Tunich can't do much to change the place's infrastructure (or the amount of seaweeds on Tulum's beaches). Tunich's employees are very sweet and give good advice on what to do, and the atmosphere is tranquil. The breakfast is included in the price and it's decent. If you are to stay in the hotel zone Tunich is a good choice!

Rooms are decorated with style, spacious and comfortable - the bed: the bad was absolutely amazing - sooo comfy! - the beach: the hotel has a private access to the beach with very comfy and elegant sun beds - the staff: everyone is very nice and helpful

This hotel is near Avenida Tulum, about a 15 walk to restaurants and shops, but because of that, it is quiet, a peaceful oasis which we appreciated. Many of the staff speak excellent English and are very accommodating and helpful. The grounds are especially well kept and they have a nice pool with lots of lounge chairs and a bar right there. Breakfast was delicious and generous.

The part of the beach this hotel is on is fantastic. Great to relax and bathe at the same time. Our kids had a great time. The deck of the hotel is fabulous. It is in the super posh area of Tulum but it feels comfortable and casual in the hotel. A-la Carte food was decent. The staff friendly. Pet donkey.

The hotel itself and facilities were good. Location is average along the beach road, it is near the end of the main road so takes circa 20-30mins taxi into Tulum town. Walking isn't advised as the roads are narrow. Hotel offers bikes but they charge for the them.

Cute boutique hotel with comfortable big rooms. Included breakfast brought to our balcony was ok, unlimited coffee and water. Pool open 24h. Nicely located near the main road of Tulum city. Bike rental available, approximately 30min to the beach.

Great boutique hotel just out of Tulum town. Location not an issue as cabs are so cheap, beach hotels are far more expensive. Clean, well kept, wonderful air con keeping the heat out of the rooms. Staff couldn’t do enough for us!
