In the center of historic Giethoorn, De Galeriet offers a private guest house with free Wi-Fi. Bovenwijde Lake is 1640 feet away while Meppel is 20 minutes by car. it's a very cozy and well located homestay. It is decorated like a galerie where the hosts can hang their own paintings. Everything we needed was there, it was completely comfortable. My kids really love the built-in beds. And the host also prepared a “hearty” and healthy breakfast for us. Highly recommend this homestay!

We arrived in the Netherlands 2 days earlier than planned and decided to drive to Giethoorn, about 1 1/2 hour drive from AMS. The village was everything we had read about and then some. We spent our first day walking the sidewalks and pathways along the canals, favorite spot was a an outdoor patio/pub on the canal watching people trying to navigate their small boat rentals along the narrow canals. There are many restaurants, pubs and boat rentals available and on a positive note, very few touristy gift shops. We were there on a Sunday and Monday, Sunday was mobbed, Monday was great. We rented a small watercraft from Wildeboer boat works a short distance from the village. The boats are hand made from oak from the same facility that has been making boats for over 200 years. Beautiful boats that were comfortable and easy to operate, a huge difference from the banged up aluminum boats available in town. The gentleman even gave us a tour of the boat making facility after our tour. ADVISE * avoid weekends *.
A charming and quaint village ideal for canal tours, bike rides and leisurely walks! A truly restful place in March as there were not many tourists. The captain from the Koppers boat tour has a great sense of humour and was personable.
Giethoorn is lovely place to stay. I'd recommend this place for people who like calm cozy places. Might be a bit tricky to get this place by public transport from Amsterdam, but it worth it. Therefore, the best is to stay there for more than 2 days.
We liked the friendly welcome at the front desk and from the waiter in the dining room. The offerings in the dining room were good choices and the food was delicious with generous helpings. The convenience of the nearby bus stop was terrific! The breakfast choices were varied and good. There was a pretty garden area with lovely flowers where you could enjoy a drink or a comfortable relaxing place to sit and enjoy a drink.
We travelled from Amsterdam to Giethoorn village by train, bus, train & bus (the Dutch public transport system is excellent: very clean, fast and on schedule) it took just under 3hrs as it was a Sunday but it seemed much shorter. We hired a boat in the North part of the village for two hours which was very relaxing and then made our way back to our Hotel Giethoorn (which is in the South) We then took a walk at the start of the village and discovered that it is very large so we decided to stay another night. On the second day we walked to the North and took lunch at the lake which was beautiful, after lunch we continued our walk which lasted until early evening. We really enjoyed our time here.
A Beautiful place with canals were we can take a boat and go for a ride, or do some surfing or cycling or following some trails around . The main attraction is the boat ride through the village water canals system. Many restaurants well placed through out the village.
Location is perfect: a quick walk away from the bus stop if you are coming by public transport, and a few minutes walk away from the main Giethoorn canal and village. Staff is very nice and helpful, breakfast is very good: buffet with various breads, cheeses, cold cuts, bacon, and eggs. Staff always kindly reminded people about corona safety, which means that they are taking it seriously. Room was newly renovated and very chic. Booked a canal tour with the hotel and that was a fun bonus because the skipper was a good story teller.
Giethoorn
Breakfast was not served. This is not a hotel, but a nice comfortable and spacy cottage 3 bedrooms and 2 complete bathrooms. Everything was clean and the host was perfect. so was the wifi (included in the price of the cottage) It is possible to rent a boat at the premisses to travel the Giethoorn canals and lakes. From the back of the house you can enter a foot /bike path that takes you to the center of Giethoorn (10-15 min walk) walking over numerous bridges while the boats float next or under you

We greatly enjoyed our stay at the Bed & Breakfast Giethoorn. The hosts were friendly and welcoming. The room was spacious, with a large comfortable bed and a relaxing view of a beautiful field. We were served breakfast at the time of our choice, in the privacy of our living room. Homemade and with a wide selection of foods, it was one of the best breakfasts I have ever had at a B&B. Overall, it was a very nice experience. Thanks!

Absolutely everything. From the warm welcome by the owner, to the gorgeous farmhouse Lodge at an excellent location and the many amenities offered. We can't thank Ed and Nancy enough for welcoming us like close friends and give us an insight on how traditional (but exceptional) their life in Giethoorn is.
Our room was just like in the photos. Everything was very clean and in good condition. We also had our breakfast and dinner at the hotel: food was fresh, and very delicious.
