About Reine

Reine is a charming fishing village nestled in the heart of Norway. Known for its cool, temperate climate, it experiences average temperatures ranging from 28°F in winter to 57°F in summer. The village's location within the Arctic Circle also means it enjoys the midnight sun in summer and polar nights in winter.

Visitors to Reine can indulge in a variety of activities. The village is famous for its stunning fjords, which can be explored by boat or on foot. The Reinebringen hike is a popular choice for those seeking breathtaking views. While public transportation is limited, the village is easily navigable by foot or car.

Immerse yourself in the local culture by visiting the nearby Lofoten Stockfish Museum, which provides insight into the region's fishing history. Don't miss out on trying traditional Norwegian dishes like "Rakfisk" (fermented fish) and "Klippfisk" (dried and salted cod), staples of the local cuisine. The surrounding nature, characterized by rugged mountains and crystal-clear waters, adds to the serene ambiance of Reine.

    Its a picture perfect town.

Its a picture perfect town. I don't need to describe its beauty. Its apparent from my pictures itself. We were lucky to see Northern lights (Aurora Borealis ) during our stay. It made the stay even more unforgettable.

The cottage we stayed in was cosy with a fantastic view of the water and mountain, sitting there with a hot drink in hand and enjoying the view after a walk on a windy rainy day was the best way to end the day. Has all the things we need for cooking. Free parking space, easy to get in and out of places. It's a pleasant stay.

    We did the Reinebrigen hike.

We did the Reinebrigen hike. Lots of people but amazing views. We also rented a boat from the hotel and went to Vindstad and did the hike to Helvetestiden and Bunes beach. Loved it. Drive down to the town of Å. Went to the old bakery for cinnamon rolls. Charming. Stopped for lunch at Maren Anna on the way back to the hotel. The hotel doesn’t have a restaurant. We stopped in at Anitas Sjomat for shrimp and brought them back for dinner at our cabin. One night we walked to dinner at Gadus. Charming and convenient.

This is a truly beautiful and majestic landscape, and definitely not to be missed. Inevitably it's own fame and success, together with its one main road, means it can be busy at times, certainly during summer months. I wouldn't miss it for the world, but there are other really stunning places in Noway to see without the cavalcade of motorhomes, so don't miss those either.

Beautiful location if you have a car.

Beautiful location if you have a car. Very remote with lots of hiking and water activities (for additional fees). You definitely get the sense of what a rugged place this is to live in year round. We had a wonderful (expensive) dinner at the Gammelbua restaurant. No fast food. Try the Coop Prix in Reine to pick up food for lunch/snacks. This is such a beautiful spot that renting a hotel early (6+months ahead) for the high Midnight sun summer season is a must. We enjoyed the museums in A (village south of Moskenes) as they set the stage for us to understand the recent legacy that is Lofoten today.

Beautiful new fitted kitchen , spacious front room with table and sofa . 2 balconies from which we seen the northen lights 4 times during our stay . The room was beautifully decorated, clean, well-heated, well-stocked, and cozy. The host graciously offered me a room upgrade, and communicated well. Best of all, the location cannot be beat - the view of the mountains and cottages is a stunning start to your day, and I watched the Northern Lights right from the deck at least twice! It is also centrally located to the best villages us South Lofoten with east drives, and Hamnoy is even walking distance. I loved my stay here!

Idyllic place, rich of history and good emotions. Our stay was perfect. Starting from the host , very polite and always answering to our requests, continuing with the rorbuer itself and the terrace outside , everything confirmed in a positive way our choice. The wood stove give that plus at the living room/kitchen. An authentic place where to spend our holidays. If one day we will be back in Lofoten, definetly we will stay here!

Something went wrong with te reservation on Bookig.com and the owners went above and beyond to find a place for me to stay. Incredibly kind and helpful people. They also helped a lot with directions to different nearby places, and they allowed me to store my things somewhere safe past checkout time due to some personal inconvenience. If you want to stay in Reine and have a good experience, definitely check this place first!

Excellent view from the room. We had a small balcony on the first floor and it had an excellent view at night. Excellent location with Circle K supermarket within walking distance and also a nice restaurant nearby recommended by Team May. Nice spacious modern room and spacious bathroom with all the essential amenities. We would certainly recommend to others in the middle of Reine with great views!

Instagram view right in front of your cabin! Set just 5min drive away from Reine without the crowd and people walking around your cabin. We enjoyed the tranquility and beauty. Cabin is super clean, well appointed with top quality appliances. Marta is very quick to respond when our washing machine did not work and proactive with solutions. Best stay so far during our lofoten trip.

The cabin was immaculate and beautiful both inside and out, the view from the cabin was breathtaking. Perfectly positioned in Reine, not far from the shops and some of the best hikes in Lofoten and some of the best views, as an amateur photographer, it was paradise. The staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming aswell. I couldn't recommend Valen cabins enough.

Very beautiful house at nice location near Reine. Our room was modern, clean and stylish, could have been a bit larger. The hall and the building surrounding smelled fishy, but that is normal at Lofoten fishing village. There was no smell in the room. Near the accomadation is a great shop and restaurant with sea food and excellent fresh salmons - pure heaven.

Very nice accommodation in a beautiful village of Reine. We had an apartment with fully equipped kitchen, there was everything what we needed. Self check in and check out was very easy. Breakfast was very tasty, easy parking opposite to the hotel and staff was very friendly. Great value for the price at this place, we can recommend it.

The Location of May's is ideal, amazing direct views of the fjords & close to everything else. Its a very good sized apartment, very modern with all amenities and facilities that one requires. Reine was one of our favorites in all of Lofoten, and staying at May's made it totally worth.

Extremely cozy place and fantastic service. The place itself is beautiful and even though we didn’t get the northern lights we still had a great view (best one in Reine in our opinion). Agata was wonderful and helped us with everything. The hot tub is also a must!
