We stayed in Cromwell as we had picked up our daughter from Otago Uni in Dunedin for the school holidays and then drove into Arrowtown/Queenstown so wanted somewhere outside of Queenstown to stay. It was just perfect! A great spacious place with everything we needed. It was clean, warm, comfy, quiet and modern. Would thoroughly recommend.

This is the gold standard of cleanliness , and hospitality. The position in front of the lake is beautiful with a bench to sit on to admire the view.
Great accommodation that was not expensive but very homely and a central location to see and visit the rest of Central Otago. Dined at the Town and Country Club , Carrick Winery, barbequed at our unit.
A beautiful little town in the centre of the South Island, with plenty of opportunities for walks and especially bike-tours. Also a gateway to Wanaka, Queenstown, and Alexandra. Our favourite place to eat and worth a destination by itself was the Stoaker Room!
Cromwell is great for cyclists or hikers, but we were there to taste the wine. We had an enjoyable experience at a handful of different wineries, and got a good sense of what is being produced in that area. Prior booking at the best wineries is a must. The restaurant selection in Cromwell was the only disappointment. It was mediocre (many were closed on the three nights we were there), although Carrick winery for lunch was quite good.
We were on a rest day from cycling and liked the restaurants and supermarkets nearby our motel. We also enjoyed a visit to the historic precinct which is very interesting and has good coffee shops and lunch places
Cromwell is a small town, the Heritage Village is a must visit. We drove to Clyde a 15 min drive, passing the dam, super views along the road. You can cycle the other side for miles along the mountains & lake. Clyde has historic building & shop fronts. We ate at the Stoaker Room, barbecue food cooked in a wine barrel. We wanted to eat at the Penny Black in the Heritage Village but they are shut Monday & Tuesday.
Cromwell is a quaint small city of 5000. We came to take advantage of the cycling tracks and beautiful surrounds and were not disappointed. There's a small selection of eateries at The Mall; we particularly liked the Organic Thai place and the Bakery.
Cromwell
Pisa Moorings was fantastic location in a quiet subdision (away from busy roads) on the lakeside. The breakfasts were amazing and the hosts were aware of my gluten free needs and provided delicious alternatives. We enjoyed chatting with the friendly hosts and the other guests (there are 2 bnb rooms) at breakfast served in the dining room overlooking the lake. We also appreciated the welcome snack basket which included gf. Location handy to Cromwell and not too far from Wanaka and Arrowtown.
Cromwell
Outstanding property. So private and quiet with all the must have touches and an incredible shower. Bliss! Nespresso machine, smart tv, washer/dryer and apowerful heat pump made our stay perfect. From salting the stairs, leaving lights & heating on; along with all the delicious treats, we could not have asked for more. Loved our walks to Black Rabbit for coffee and cheese rolls but the highlight was meals at Bannockburn Hotel.
