Located less than a 1-minute walk from the center of Wanaka, Wanaka Hotel is a 1-minute walk from the lake and town center. Most accommodations offers views over the lake and mountains. Location, right at town center and couple hundred yards from the lake. Had a guest self-service kitchen which was extremely helpful as we stayed there on christmas eve when most restaurants were closed.
Edgewater is located on the edge of Lake Wanaka, only 1.2 mi from Wanaka town center. The property offers picturesque lake views, a day spa, a sauna and a tennis court. The location, facilities, and grounds at the Edgewater were excellent, but what made our stay truly standout were the excellent staff, especially Chloe at reception. She was excellent to deal with and was very accommodating with special requests.
Fairway Motel and Apartments offer self-contained accommodations within a 10-minute walk from Lake Wanaka town. Features include an outdoor swimming pool and BBQ facilities. My family and I really enjoyed our stay. Staff were friendly rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Great information by reception staff to decide what to do during our short stay. We will need to come back again to do some more exploring.
Just 5 minutes' walk from the heart of Wanaka's town center and access to the beachside of the beautiful Lake Wanaka, Alpine Motel offers self-contained accommodations with free off-street parking and... Absolutely amazing motel and amazing people who run it. Great room and a fully-equipped kitchen with a view of backyard garden. Kid's play area is great too! We were to arrive a bit late, post 10 pm or so and received clear check-in instructions. There is also a small but nice area of fruit trees, which were loaded with plums and apples. It's a bit away from the lake, but just a couple of mins of drive if you have a car. Close to supermarkets. We had some issue with hot water, but it was resolved super promptly. We traveled during peak time and had to pay a bomb despite booking it way too much in advance. I'd absolutely stay here again if I get a better price deal.

I enjoy Wanaka. Although a tourist town, with much to enjoy in the outdoors it is much less commercial than Queenstown which for me is pricing itself off the tourist market for the average Kiwi, although there have been some good deals since Co-vid arrived.
Absolutely beautiful location with something for every energy level and all weather conditions. Our trip was centred around rock climbing and we couldn’t have asked for better climbing weather- crisp and cool starts to the day and clear blue skies. Bliss!! Too many crags and climbs to do in a single week- we will be back! An abundance of hiking options and kayaking on the lake or mountain biking at Glendhu Bay- too many fabulous activities to list. This is a 10/10 holiday location ❤️👌
Wanaka is a nice place to visit plenty of cafes and restaurants, a lot of beautiful scenery and walks as well as many things to visit and try. It's an hours drive to Queenstown Cromwell or even Alexandra it's the perfect place to base yourself. There are 2 new world supermarkets for your groceries and some shops to look around it's a family destination or a place for couples.
We really enjoyed our stay here it was so relaxing and enjoyable. We loved the lake and our children loved swimming there especially Bremner Bay, Everything you need is here and we will be coming back. The town is easy to get around and lots of options for eating and things to do. We all loved the puzzle world as well.
Close to ammenities Some open 24/7 Close to atm and restaurants on site at motel. Busy at day but quiet at night (in summertime) The puzzle place was the best. Kids had a blast. Pretty easy to get around.
Beautiful small town, postcard views everywhere you look, not too over commercialised, lots of friendly people and lots of places to go see while staying.... we went to Mt Cook for the day, it was wonderful. We also did a boat trip to Ruby Island which was lovely and gave my husband the idea to walk Roy's Peak the next day.... absolutely awesome views from the top.
Great studio living with everything you needed for a relaxing holiday. Bonuses were: the equipped kitchen (hob, pans, toaster, kettle, microwave, small fridge), I was thinking a small kitchenette but was happily surprised; the private lawn space to chill outside; the great shower water pressure. We knew the location wasn't in town but that suited us fine. I would choose this accommodation again over a hotel or lodge in the same price range.
Hey it’s no 5 star boutique hotel if that’s what you’re after - but it is- exceptional ,comfortable , clean , slightly retro but tastefully renovated , charming and very well managed by the most gracious and helpful hosts I came across in my South Island travels . Just good honest accomodation . Will be back again no doubt.
Nice relaxed house in a great location - just a short walk from The Edgewater hotel (nice spot for an evening drink on the edge of the lake) and That Wanaka Tree, away from the busy town centre yet only a 3 or 4 minute drive, and on the way to Glendhu Bay. Excellent comms etc from the property owners
older hotel which has been refreshed, very clean, comfortable and suitable for three people - staff were very friendly and ready to have a chat about the local area, there are washers and dryers for those who need them - walking distance to main drag and lake and lots of dining options around
the apartment we had was amazing! big and modern; comfortable and very clean! the apartment was situated just in front of the lake with a great view of Wanaka Lake. We could not get a better service and a better stay at Wanaka. I highly recommend this beautiful and well located property!
Great location by the side of Lake Wanaka, 25 minutes’ walking distance to the Wanaka Tree. A playground in front of the hotel, and on the lake bank a lot of seagulls and ducks. Supermarket New World even asian supermarket nearby. Easy driving to the Puzzle World and Lavender Farm.
There are many things I like about this hotel - the size of the room, the equipment provided, etc, but the #1 on the list must be the lady at the reception. I'm not sure if she's the owner or a staff, but she's very friendly and welcoming.
The location of the hotel was perfect spot. The apartment that we had was awsome. The view over the lake was worth waking up to in the morning as was sitting outside having our breakfast. We will be back.
Immaculate modern & beautiful apartment, with comfortable beds in a great location. Perfect for our family of 4. Check in staff helpful with recommendations
Clean and tidy. Many facilities available. The entire apartment was like a 3-4 stars hotel. Is a perfect stay in Wanaka for sure!
Very Nice and Clean, liked the location of the hotel, very close to the food and the lake
Great view of lake from hotel room. Room was big.
easy walk to Wanaka centre
Very helpful hosts at Te Wanaka lodge. The place was walking distance to town and very clean. Love the electric blanket and underfloor heating and heat pump.
We loved the creek running just in front of the motel. Beautiful and peaceful. One bedroom suite was spacious and immaculate. Perfect for family of four.
The room was very well appointed and the location was perfect. The view was great and the service couldn't have been better.
Warm and cosy. Tidy and clean. Warm and welcoming, especially since it was snowing. Couldn't have asked for better.
The ambience, the comfortable bed, the nice sitting rooms and the lovely homemade breakfast.
Pools are really lovely. Rooms have everything you need and staff are very helpful.
Everything was excellent, many thanks
