Distinction Te Anau Hotels & Villas overlooks the spectacular Lake Te Anau and the Fiordland ranges. It offers elegant rooms with lake and garden views. Very friendly staff. Beautiful decor and very comfortable rooms. Heated pools and great buffet breakfast. Just around the corner from the main part of town. Wished we could of stayed longer.
Located next to Lake Te Anau, Kingsgate Hotel is within walking distance of the town center. It offers excellent walking opportunities nearby and free onsite parking. Unlimited free WiFi is included. As soon as we arrived, receptionist told us that since the hotel was not busy, we wers promoted to a bigger room with lake view!! Everything was very comfortable, modern and clean. Pity we only stayed for one night!
Set on expansive grounds, Fiordland Hotel is located in Te Anau, 1640 feet from the lake. The town center is a 10-minute walk from the property. Good parking close to room, and within walking distance of restaurants in the evening. Helpful member of staff who brought us a fan on request.

Lovely property. Immediately feel like home when you arrive. The landscape are really nice. Everything is spotlessly clean. Thanks Rachel and her family for hosting us! Highly recommended. It's really a good break between exhausting drive from Queenstown to Milford sound.

Located on the shores of Lake Te Anau, Fiordland Lakeview Motel offers self-contained accommodations with free Wi-Fi and lake and garden views. The apartments here are absolutely fantastic and comfortable with an amazing view of the lake. The village is only five minutes walk away with lots of different possibilities for eating or alternatively the apartment is equipped to cook yourself if you wish. Host was friendly with great advice regarding activities etc. Would highly recommend, maybe a bit more pricey than other venues but totally worth it.

Outstanding restaurants for such tiny town, excellent cafes with fresh baked goods & coffee. We especially enjoyed our meal at the Fat Duck, outstanding fish & chips, garlic bread. The Kepler track is right here which is outstanding in itself!
Te Anau was a great place to stay because it’s not to far to Milford sound though it is touristy it is still so beautiful but I do recommend going in one of the smaller vessels like mitre peak cruses their boats are smaller and can get in all the nooks and crannies back in te Anau they have a great skate park so if your travelling with kids make sure to bring there bikes or scooters.
The "Faith In Fiordland" afternoon trip with short walk option was well beyond my expectations - great crew, awesome food and drinks, presentation and wonderful historic launch. "Trips and Tramps" day trip to Fiordland was also a wonderful experience, cant recommend highly enough. Te Anau is a lovely little village, and I hope it stays that way. Good cafes, restaurants and cinema. Most amazing views on the drive up form Southland, and then back to Queenstown.
We stayed in an Air B&B. It was a wonderful house for our family's needs. Really enjoyed the glow worm cave, driving over to Milford Sound and taking a day's boat excursion. We stopped for hikes along the way that were well worth the time. Te Anau has good restaurants was not too crowded and has a nice downtown to walk around. The lakefront and park was a great place for a walk and for kids to play. Double zip lines in the park were lots of fun!
Te Anau lived up to our expectations. We had perfect weather for Milford Sound and rainy weather for Doubtful Sound. Milford was gorgeous in the sun and we saw hundreds of waterfalls on Doubtful Sound in the rain.
As we were new to the area we found it easy to get around. The restaurants were all very good and the three sightseeing trips were excellent. We did them through Real Journeys, both the Milford and Doubtful Sounds were brilliant days and the visit to the Glow worms was very informative but one needs to be quite steady on ones feet!!

PERFECTION We made a last minute decision to visit Te Anau and booked what ended up to be the nicest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The bed was lovely, the bathroom and kitchen were amazing and both stocked completely. We befriended the beautiful cat owned by the staff at the Hotel. The outside area is wonderful with flower bushes, places to relax and birds singing in the trees! All the staff are super friendly and always smiling. Definitely recommend 11/10

Great location for Lake and local eateries. Family groups were enjoying themselves. I booked as a sole traveller for a cheap bed $45 a night to facilitate early morning starts to Doubtful Sound and Milford Sound. Location compared favourably to the $275 a night nearby motels. Communal facilities such as shower and toilets not an issue. The reception staff were pleasant and did their best to be helpful.

The reception room with adjacent kitchen was lovely. It had a European lodge style and the kitchen was modern and well equipped. The rooms were quaint, comfortable and warm. It was situated in the country side about ten minutes from Te Anau. At night you can hear cows and dogs in the distance.
