Located next to Lake Te Anau, Kingsgate Hotel is within walking distance of the town center. It offers excellent walking opportunities nearby and free onsite parking. Unlimited free WiFi is included. The staff is amazing they saved our stay in Te Anau, really good hotel especially if you plan to go to the Mauri village.
Located adjacent to Lake Te Anau, Tasman Holiday Parks - Te Anau offers a children’s playground, a hot tub and BBQ facilities. All accommodations features a flat-screen TV. Appreciated the upgrade to a self contained motel unit near reception. The room setting is modern and comfortable with ample room to kick back and relax. The site has great shared facilities too, super clean and we'll thought out. We had come from another holiday park from Wanaka so it was obvious how much nicer this place is in comparison. We traveled with a 6 year old who absolutely loved all the play options on site such as the jumping pillow and kids games room. There is also a fantastic public playground just a minute's walk away with a flying fox (Zipline).
Set in park-like grounds on the shores of Lake Te Anau, 5 minutes' walk from the town center, Te Anau Lakefront Backpackers has both mountain and lake views from the majority of the rooms. Good outdoor space and kitchen, clean room and friendly staff.
A beautiful town with a huge lake surrounded by snow capped mountains, very scenic. Centrally located to get to Gorgeous Doubtful and Milford Sounds and old growth world heritage wilderness forests and national parks. Lovely array of shops and food choices with a great vibe. Great walking, cycling and touring abounds. Don't miss the experiences that can be had here. Outstanding!!
,place to stop and stay then do Miford Sound as a day trip then back for a second night in Te Anau. Beautiful lake and the locals are friendly. Plenty of choice for places to eat from takeaways to pub meals and restaurants. Great pies at Miles Better Pies.
Southern Helicopters offer great options to see the region from the air, fantastic! Take off and landing right on the lake edge was cool, 2 landings up in the mountains - spectacular. We hadn't planned it but watching the helicopter come in over the water was awesome - great marketing.
Te Anau is a great base to explore the Fiords. You can do tours to Milford, Doubtful and Glowworm Caves from this destination. Lots of water based activities during the warmer season and in the winter, all tours also still operate.
Enjoyed walking round Te Anau - yum meals at The Ranch Bar, and the Fat Duck. Loved the boat over the Manapouri Lake/bus/boat trips through the beautifil Doubtful Sound. Beautiful scenery. Thanks Judy and Bryan.
Great local woodfired pizza a must at Pizzeria Paradiso. Easy town to navigate and walk around. Lots of options for food, shopping, souveniers and adventure bookings. Gorgeous local bird sanctuary a lovely walking distance from the centre of town - definitely see the Takahe living dinosaurs. Lake is a focal point even with the misty weather we had - still broody and beautiful with backdrop of dense forest.
The motel room was comfortable and provided all we needed for a short stay. We had booked nights either side of an overnight Doubtful Sound cruise and they were able to let us keep the room which was very helpful. Te Anau is very affected by the lack of international visitors due to Covid but the Bella Vista seemed busy both nights we stayed. It was very good value for money which probably helped their occupancy rate.
Super new - in fact recently completed- and well designed lodge about 5 mins out of Te Anau. The setting - looking out over the pond/dam and complete with ducks to feed was enticing and great for star gazing into the night sky or for lazy drinks on the verandah. Helpful host arrived to welcome us just after we settled in and came promptly the next day when we muddled the settings on the airconditioner.
Nothing to dislike, wonderful scenic setting, very upmarket luxury presentation in the guest lounge and bedrooms, hosts to whom providing great friendly service obviously comes naturally and a breakfast setting that surpasses any of the numerous bed and breakfast accommodation options we have used. Undervalued at the current rate. Absolutly would highly recommend High Leys Lodge to any discerning traveler.
On this trip, we have stayed in over a dozen different hotels/motels. The Kingsgate had the most comfortable beds of all of them. Clean and comfortable despite being a little older. Good location across from the lake although it would be a 5-10 minute walk to town and restaurants. Staff were very helpful. Good parking. 17 minute drive from Manapouri to grab a boat ride to Doubtful Sound.
After walking the Kepler Track and finishing early, we were kindly able to get an early arrival time at the motel and made use of the lovely spa bath with bath salts provided. Then feet up on the comfy loungers to watch some tele. Luxury and time to recover; just what the doctor ordered.
I booked this place because of all the good reviews and I was glad I did. It's a really nice place with really friendly hosts. Sitting by the log fire in an armchair in the wood-panelled common room it felt more like a luxury lodge than a backpackers. Highly recommended!
Its nice location - just across the road from lake. It was exactly the same how it is advertised on booking.com. Te Anau is a small town and the property is very near to shops and restaurants. Overall value for money.
Lovely place to stay with great owners. Rooms are large and had renovated bathroom. Owners were very accomodating of our requests, and provided lots of travel advice while in Te Anau. Loved staying here.
We were greeted with a lovely warm welcome and had our room upgraded which was a nice surprise. Very roomy motel, quiet at night and comfortable beds so would stay there again if we go back in Te Anau.
Nice, clean hotel right in the middle of Te Anau. Reception was friendly and helpful, rooms were great with plenty of room and very comfortable beds. Lovely breakfast.
Very good breakfast and an exceptional host. A little out from the centre of Te Anau which suited us as it was a lovely walk along the lake front.
Very comfortable place to relax and gorgeous view of Lake Te Anau. Pleasant walk to the sweet small town with excellent coffee shops and cinema.
The facility was very clean and tidy. A really good value for money if someone is keen to go around Te Anau and Milford Sounds.
