Located next to Lake Te Anau, Kingsgate Hotel is within walking distance of the town center. It offers excellent walking opportunities nearby and free onsite parking. Unlimited free WiFi is included. We had 2 lovely nights at the hotel. The rooms are lovely and comfortable, well equipped and very clean. All of the staff were very friendly and accommodating, in particular Mark who has gone out of his way to return some items we left behind. I would definitely stay there again and highly recommend it. Date of stay: July 2022
Distinction Luxmore Hotel is located in Te Anau's town center, a short stroll from Lake Te Anau. It offers a wide range of accommodations with Fiordland-themed décor. Friendly staff, easy check in, great views, clean rooms. Importantly hot water and good shower pressure. Great value.
Located adjacent to Lake Te Anau, Tasman Holiday Parks - Te Anau offers a children’s playground, a hot tub and BBQ facilities. All accommodations features a flat-screen TV. Attractive, modern room. Excellent shared lounge and kitchen facilities in group of rooms that were separate from the main body of the Gateway campus. Beautiful gardens running through centre of campus made for a wonderful atmosphere. Fantastic location in this lovely town.
Free Wi-Fi, free BBQ facilities and free parking are on offer at Lakeside Motel & Apartments. Great location, modern, super well equipped, helpful and friendly staff, coin laundry and plenty of outdoor hanging space. Carpark in front of the room.
Te Anau was our base between three different hiking activities. It is a hidden gem of a town on the shores of a lake. There are so many things to do, using Te Anau as your base. The restaurants and cafes are wonderful but you may need to book. The movie theatre is a gem, and the library is excellent. Laundromat facilities are available and the National Park information centre is wonderful. The sporting stores have so much on offer, including the head nets for the sandflies at Milford Sound. Cannot wait to return to this gentle town away from all the hustle and bustle of snow/ski towns nearby.
A beautiful town with a huge lake surrounded by snow capped mountains, very scenic. Centrally located to get to Gorgeous Doubtful and Milford Sounds and old growth world heritage wilderness forests and national parks. Lovely array of shops and food choices with a great vibe. Great walking, cycling and touring abounds. Don't miss the experiences that can be had here. Outstanding!!
,place to stop and stay then do Miford Sound as a day trip then back for a second night in Te Anau. Beautiful lake and the locals are friendly. Plenty of choice for places to eat from takeaways to pub meals and restaurants. Great pies at Miles Better Pies.
Southern Helicopters offer great options to see the region from the air, fantastic! Take off and landing right on the lake edge was cool, 2 landings up in the mountains - spectacular. We hadn't planned it but watching the helicopter come in over the water was awesome - great marketing.
Te Anau is a great base to explore the Fiords. You can do tours to Milford, Doubtful and Glowworm Caves from this destination. Lots of water based activities during the warmer season and in the winter, all tours also still operate.
Enjoyed walking round Te Anau - yum meals at The Ranch Bar, and the Fat Duck. Loved the boat over the Manapouri Lake/bus/boat trips through the beautifil Doubtful Sound. Beautiful scenery. Thanks Judy and Bryan.
Hotel DeBrett is situated right in the town center, very close to attractions and transportation. We walked everywhere. We loved the comfortable bed and the bathroom, which had a luxurious large tub and shower with great water pressure. The hotel also offered a variety of alternate milks for tea and coffee—a very nice touch. We kicked off the day with a delicious continental breakfast included with the room fee at the hotel restaurant located in a very pretty atrium room. The staff were very helpful and helped arrange airport transport.
The motel room was comfortable and provided all we needed for a short stay. We had booked nights either side of an overnight Doubtful Sound cruise and they were able to let us keep the room which was very helpful. Te Anau is very affected by the lack of international visitors due to Covid but the Bella Vista seemed busy both nights we stayed. It was very good value for money which probably helped their occupancy rate.
Nothing to dislike, wonderful scenic setting, very upmarket luxury presentation in the guest lounge and bedrooms, hosts to whom providing great friendly service obviously comes naturally and a breakfast setting that surpasses any of the numerous bed and breakfast accommodation options we have used. Undervalued at the current rate. Absolutly would highly recommend High Leys Lodge to any discerning traveler.
Loch Vista is just a short drive from Te Anau, and a great base for exploring the area. Phil is a lovely host, and the home is spotless. The view from the breakfast bar is stunning. Rooms are comfortable, and the breakfast is simple but very tasty. We stayed here after hiking the Kepler Track and it was the perfect spot to relax after a few days of tramping.
This was the perfect location for exploration in 3 directions, up to Milford Sound for a day trip, down to Doubtful sound day trip and across to Te Anau glow worm caves, all of which were worthwhile doing. The hotel was centrally located. Everything went smoothly. Clean room with two queen beds, perfect for us.
We loved everything about this motel! The staff were friendly, everything was clean and well equipped, the view from our room was amazing with just a short walk from the room to the lake. We would definitely be coming back if we are ever in Te Anau again.
The motel staff did an exceptional job with their cleaning and room service! The place had all the facilities we needed and we had a very comfortable stay with very close access to the lake and town! I will make this my go to place in Te Anau!
Lovely place to stay with great owners. Rooms are large and had renovated bathroom. Owners were very accomodating of our requests, and provided lots of travel advice while in Te Anau. Loved staying here.
Beautifully decorated room at the end of a superb flower border running along the guest accommodation. A great base for enjoying the beautiful town of Te Anau and the surrounding, glorious country.
It was a great experience. Definitely the best place to stay in Te Anau. The whole place is lovely and very well looked after. Friendly environment. Loved the sheeps!!
The communal kitchen is a fabulous facility. Also great that you accommodate self contained campers. Great location so close to shops, restaurants etc
clean, close to lake te anau and the shops and friendly and helpful staff
Best campsite in Te Anau!
