Located 15 miles from Armando Dely Valdés Stadium, Jungle Eco Reserve has accommodations with a garden, a private beach area and a 24-hour front desk for your convenience. This place is just amazing. Probably our best sunrise ever...alone in the lake with the canoe. Our hosts were amazing. Joy cooked us a wonderful dinner. We started our trip on Panama going there and we kind of regret it : it was hard to beat the feeling of peace and beauty with felt there. If you're looking for a 4 star hotel with hot tubs don't go there. If you're looking for an amazing experience, a breathtaking sunrise and a friendly time, it's the right place. Don't miss the canoe on the lake !

great R& R in spectacularly located eco resort - away from madding Christmas bustle! Loved Food & Service & ambience( spectacular views of forest and river) at Corotu restaurant. Tx KY& team ( orlando & others) Housekeeping efficient and courteous. EVERYWHERE on this location was a spectacular view!! The Pool was very large and well designed with kiddy area . activity area for pool volleyball , swim up bar and still allow waterfall and regular swimming .. and . It is well maintained given its age ... During our stay it was wonderfully quiet ...only on weekend when locals visited did the pool area become lively . We were able to wander safely around expansive grounds and discover rainforest delights -birds. animals trees, flowers , butterflies'..( bird count approx. 140 during stay). Grounds well maintained . Activities such as aerial tram , kayaking and the complimentary tours seemed to be well appreciated by locals and visitors ( a lot of panama city day visitors ). The convergence between the Chagres river and panama canal and native Emberas indians sites make this an unique holiday experience . A wonderful Eco holiday with a good quality hotel ambience . The whole location has a spectacular setting in every room & area .
This hotel may not suit everyone but for bird watchers it is an ideal location with trails and extensive grounds the hotel also has a small open buggy which staff seem happy to use to drop off and pick up guests to local spots like pipeline road, ammo dump and summit ponds, the local bus while not exactly run to schedule also goes to Panama city and Albrook mall. Any of the top floors on the left wing have views over the river and get great views of parrots coming into roost, the free night time tour offered by the hotel also produces some great birds and mammals, monkeys and sloth can be found most days. River boat trips can be hit and miss but worth doing with the right guide as they will manoeuvre to get photos if you ask, all the boat trips could do with being a little bit longer. As a holiday resort it is very comfortable but you are in the middle of a jungle so humid heat, mouldy smells, mud and mosquitoes come with the package. Staff are helpful and easy going making the whole stay very easy.
The wildlife in the area is great, you need to just take some of the tours, which could be longer. Plus there are short trail around the hotel as well. This is nice for a short get away. The staff is friendly and really nice. If you want to see wildlife, you need to get up early in the morning and in the later afternoon starting around 3:00. Otherwise you will not see much.
Gamboa itself is a small village. There is only a restaurant or two outside of the hotel, and one small grocery story for common items. The visit is really based on the Gamboa Rainforest Resort (lots of tours) and the Pipeload road and Discovery center for birding.
The hotel location is incredible, you have a lot of space to chose in the common areas, the hotel was not crowded so it's feels like very private and relaxing place. After our reserve in booking the check in hour was not specific and we arrived to the hotel at 1 p.m and the check in was at 3:00 p.m., after that they had a delay to gave us the bedroom and when finally we rich it, the room door had problems to open. They gave us a suit but this suit was too cold, the air conditioner was really noisy, the pillows was no really confortable, and the suit summed up in a group of old furniture that had not sense with the experience that we was expecting. 2 TV's, a bar, a living room that we din't had time to use and a small and dark shower nothin commensurate with the suit size. One last point is that the principal reason by which I took this room was because it included a bath but in the end it never was in the reserve specifications and finally we needed to enjoy our dark shower. This is a huge hotel but I think that is overrated, I've been in a cheaper hotels with more comfortable and less noisy rooms.
Great area to visit, the rainforest is a great place to visit. Besides the hiking (which you can just do yourself) every other activities were very pricy and they didn’t allow you to do them outside of a tour e.g. visit the sanctuary. Busses back to town rum very infrequent, i guess the same experience can be made with a day Tour from the city which includes transport.
