Hotel Melius, BejaParque Hotel, and Pousada Convento de Beja got great room view-related reviews from travelers in Beja.
Beja is located centrally in the Baixo Alentejo region. Aside from historical and tourist attractions in Beja itself, it is located within 1 hour day trips from interesting locations such as Evora, Mértola, Cromeleque neolithic sites, numerous Alentejo wineries, natural parks and more.
I strongly advice going to "Adega 25 Abril" restaurant, very nice staff and good food at suitable prices. Do not go to "Taberna a Pipa". Awfull service, did not attend us at all, regardless of the small children within our group. They had an available table that was suposed to be for us, but did not prepar it or allow us to seat and order something for the children. We ended going to other restaurant.
Enjoyable to wander the cobblestone streets and narrow lanes of Beja. It is small enough to soon feel comfortable navigating. Lots of public art and religious structures. Many large tree filled squares. We visited in sunny November when some of the places I wanted to visit like the sculpture museum and some restaurants were closed for the season. We like to travel in non tourist times, so this is the trade off. There was still plenty to see and enjoy. We especially enjoyed 2 restaurants which we ate at more than once: Tem Avondo (authentic Portuguese, large portions, good value) and Sabores do Campo (interesting and tasty vegetarian buffet, where you pay by weight of your selections from large array).
I hadn’t been to Beja for quite a while. The city, although small, is quite fetching. Their local museum (Museu Regional de Beja) is quite stunning. The selection of tiles and artifacts are well looked after and very well managed. There are plenty of small restaurants and the food is excellent (with emphasis on pork). Also, the desserts are yummy!!
Beja is not very touristic but is an interesting place to visit and a great base for visiting Evora, Mertola and Alvito and generally exploring the Alentejo region. Recommend Adega do Castelo, A Pipa and Tasca da Su restaurants which all served great food. You can easily get around Beja on foot with some help from Google maps.
A good stop over location if you are traveling between Lisbon and the Algarve. Accommodation and food options are all reasonable and there are a couple of museums, the Beja Castle, the park and municipal pool if you’re traveling with children.

This was a fabulous little apartment. Beautifully appointed, comfortable, lovely terrace, smooth check-in/out. Breakfast at the nearby B&B worked out great. Appreciated the recycling and other conscious touches, including the water filter. Rita was warm and welcoming. Everything (and more) we needed for a short but sweet stay in Beja!
Beja
Beautiful old house converted into a boutique hotel with a few beautiful modern rooms with mini kitchen in the room and a clean modern bathroom. Host was lovely and checked us in a bit late, showed us around and gave a great food recommendation. Outdoor area is super nice and the pool was great. We will definitely come back again.
Beja
The hotel was in a great location, is quiet, and the staff was friendly. My only suggestion would be to add a night light to the room as it gets dark at night and the steps to the wc get in the way. Also, since the room had 3 single beds, it would be good to add a second chair to the room. Otherwise the hotel was great.
Great place to stay and explore the city of Beja. You're in the centre and have easy access to all museums and things to see and do. The owner is very kind and accomodating and the place itself is already a little museum! I would certainly recommend it to others.
