This place is perfect in terms of service, rooms, rates, facilities, food and everything. Highly recommend to stay for some days and enjoy. It’s near to boarder, beach, clubs, and anything that you need to explore while staying in Giseyni
Was only here for 2 nights which was enough to explore the area. Enjoyed the lake views and great fish! Inzozi beach hotel was great for views and food! Motor taxis were my preferred mode of transport.
People are warm, they give you a warm welcome and give you space if needed. I recommend Duck Boat with Idris as the guide! Rwandan youth to show you nature and surroundings! The small art shop near el Classico Beach 2 is perfect and el classico is a great spot for grilled food, music and watching boats on the lake at sunset.
The road trip from Kigali to Gisenyi was smooth(good roads) .Gisenyi is full of clean air with lovely and accommodating folks(tho communication was a barrier for me as most folks did not speak English), Never the less, it was easy to get around gisenyi using motto bike which was affordable( cheap) and safe . the views/scenery in Gisenyi is breathtaking,. I’d highly recommend a boat ride on lake kivu!
Gisenyi is really beautiful! I cannot recommend enough the Palm Beach Resort and the areas near that resort. We went for the day and it turned our entire trip around! Beautiful views, great restaurant, boats can pick you up right from the dock. The location made it feel like an actual vacation. Gisenyi is full of great restaurants! Our favorites were New Bistro Wine Garage, Palm Beach Resort, and Calafia! STAY AWAY from Hotel Italiano Al Lago!!! Our first night in Gisenyi was totally ruined by a horrific experience there that included being locked inside the compound unwillingly by the manager over a small kiss I exchanged with my fiance (I later found out from other expats this is not an isolated event, many circumstances of harassment there). This nearly ruined our trip, but we proceeded to explore the rest of Gisenyi and were very glad we did!
You cannot come to Rwanda and not go all the way to Gisenyi. It's mad beautiful with great hills and mountains on one side and a beautiful lake with other gorgeous mountains at the horizon. It's quite a different feel from Kigali, even more reason why it's worth a trip! :)
