A Tennessee Mountain Home
Pigeon Forge is a family entertainment hotbed in the Great Smoky Mountains. Though ‘great’ is quite an understatement, as the sight of blue mist hovering above forested peaks is simply breathtaking.
The most famous attraction is undoubtedly Dollywood, where a steam train puffs around a host of rides and shows in a theme park named after country legend Dolly Parton. Within the grounds is the Southern Gospel Museum and Hall of Fame, and next door are pools and waterslides at Dolly’s Splash Country.
Cowboy boots should be at the ready for the singer’s Dixie Stampede dinner theatre and the Country Tonite Theater, and toe-tapping is also virtually guaranteed at the Grand Majestic Theater and Smoky Mountain Opry.
The Old Mill is a wooden watermill on the Little Pigeon River, once part of a forge complex which sparked the town’s name. Also by the river are some Pigeon Forge outlet malls and the NASCAR SpeedPark which hosts car and truck events. The Elvis Museum houses memorabilia of ‘The King’ while the Titanic Museum is a floating, half-size replica of the doomed ship.
This is just the tip of the iceberg and with Booking.com’s great deals on pet-friendly hotels and cheap motels on Pigeon Forge Parkway, you might just be tempted to do what the town’s sign requests: Y’all come back.

Many places to stay and lots to do. Many good restaurants. There is a lot of traffic and it is a 4 lane highway. We will certainly plan for a better facility to stay in. We were there after Helene had gone thru the area and had no phone or internet where we were staying in Bryson City, North Carolina so had no way to select our accommodations when we got to Pigeon Forge, TN.

Mid September timing had great weather for most of my visit.
Mid September timing had great weather for most of my visit. Some of my time was planned/scheduled and some was not. For the unplanned time, there was plenty to do that did not require advance scheduling so I was never bored. Traffic was issue in the evenings due to an annual car show being on that weekend as everybody was on the main road and there are minimal alternative routes. Shopping and dining locations were very abundant. It appeared there were also several kid-friendly locations available.

Great vacation spot and close to our home area. The traffic was really good. We loved the hotel, the shops, and the attractions. We ate at McDonald’s (we traveled with our grandson) several times.
