Public transportation is pretty good and the train's to and from the airport help make the visit easy. I got a HOP FastPass app for $10 (+ $3 service charge?) Between the seniors discount and the limit on how much they'll charge in a day before making it free, I didn't even use the entire amount. The weather and landscape are, for the most part, lovely. I spent most of my time walking around in Old Town/Chinatown, Downtown and the neighborhoods right across the river to the east. The Waterfront park is lovely and there's an art market there on Saturdays with a lot of cool stuff and great people watching

We only visited family and then the Japanese Tea Garden and The Rose Garden in Washington Park. Spectacular!! The prices for food at the Tea Garden cafe were sky high, but we are from Texas where your money goes quite a bit farther for gas and food in particular.

We spent our time in Bend attending 2 Sun River Music Festival concerts. Both were excellent! We also drove the Cascades route which was very photogenic. We then headed to stay in Cannon Beach to see Haystack Rock & of particular interest to my companion, puffins! Before we checked in on the 16th we visited Multnotmah Falls, which was impressive. My partner, who loves bookstores, spent a couple of hours at Powell's before returning home to AZ. Strongly recommend Bistro in Seaside for a great meal, noting high end dollar wise. The best Thai Seafood soup I've ever imbibed.

I planned to visit the city, but after reading up and hearing from some people that lived there i changed my plans. I decided to just visit for the day. The city is suffering from drug and homeless problems, I was told they are trying to reverse a policy of all drug legalisation, which hadn't gone well. I have travelled globally and to some poor countries and bad cities in the past, this had a bad vibe about the place. The "famous" bookstore is just like any other and nodiscript. Voodoo doughnuts which are on the must do list, are again completely overrrated. My advice, skip Portland and do Seattle instead.

The hotel and room were modern, comfortable and clean. There’s a gorgeous outdoor area that I’m sure if stunning for drinks in the summer! Staff were very helpful and available, even the bar staff were quick to provide us with recommendations for where to go in Portland. Location is convenient - it’s downtown and a short walk to the city centre, and the bus and tram stops are right outside. I’d definitely return to Hotel Zags if I’m back in Portland.

Good but pricey hotel in excellent location for the Oregon Convention Centre with easy access to downtown and other attractions using the MAX public transportation. The rooms are nice and clean and have all the basics, including a good-size safe. The Market in the hotel provides quick breakfast options with good quality. The hotel restaurant breakfast is expensive and options a little limited but good quality in a relaxed atmosphere.

I chose this hotel because the suite was affordable, and unlike every other hotel in downtown Portland, it didn't charge a BS "amenity" charge. Loved the free happy hour, the mini cafe, the coffee drinks in the morning, the quiet rooms, the kitchenette.
