Richmond, Indiana, is a small city in farm country on the Ohio border. It is a nice place with friendly people.
I went there to see the 2024 total eclipse of the sun but learned along the way that there are at least four places of interest in town and nearby that seemed worth visiting. Because of bad weather after the eclipse, I visited only the first of the four, the arboretum, for which there was no charge to enter.
1. The arboretum (in town, about two miles from the motel)
2. The Model T car museum (in town)
3. A site where Ordovician fossils are said to be common and can be collected (nearby)
4. The birthplace of one of the Wright brothers (about an hour away by car)

I love this town, but I grew up here.
I love this town, but I grew up here. It's changed a lot over the years, but I still love to come back every chance I get. There are lots of things to do, but the parks are beautiful, the historical museum is amazing and the people are wonderful!

Sorry, but we just stayed the night on our way to our final destination. The town seemed very nice as we were driving through. There are lots of options for dining, and there was easy access to shopping and the highways.

My friend and I stayed 3 nights in Richmond to experience Antique Trail No. 1 and we really enjoyed ourselves. We definitely had plenty to do during our stay. Absolutely everyone we encountered, from restaurant workers, hotel workers, store clerks, were so very nice, friendly and helpful.
We enjoyed seeing some beautiful old homes as we went around the city. Easy to drive in also.

The gentleman that served breakfast(Richard) was awesome! He was very attentive to all guest and made each of us feel important! He is definitely an asset to your hotel. The staff was friendly and my room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is a little outdated. My family and I stayed here about 3 years ago. We had a very bad experience and I refuse to come back. After reading some of you recent reviews I decided to give you another chance and I am glad I did. We visit Richmond about 2 times a year and will be staying here again.
We stayed in the queen suite, and the room was huge. It surpassed our expectations by far. We stayed in 4 different hotels on this trip 3 of the 4 were Hampton Inn's. We had a 1 night stay at a different chain hotel and quickly realized Hampton Inn's are far better for the same price. The Hampton Inn & Suites in Richmond, IN, was our favorite hotel of the trip.
Brand new hotel. Close to I-70 and to Ohio state line. Nice restaurants within a mile or less from the hotel. Everything was fine, and I would stay here again.
