I wish the city had invested in the historic downtown area. There are so many beautiful buildings that have been left uncared for. We visited Richmond to see Earlham College. And while the College is fantastic, Richmond itself needs a lot of help.
We came to Richmond not knowing what to expect because we came for the Thistlewaite Waterfall that was extremely beautiful! It was really flowing due to a lot of rain! I expected there to be more of a selection for nice dinners but when we drove to Old Richmond it looked very dead and only about 2 places to choose to eat from. Our dinner was delicious! We actually ate at Kitchen at the Loft and it was delicious but extrememly dead for a Saturday night. We wish we could have visited all of the historic places around but they all closed early at around 5 and we were at the waterfall around then. It was a cute historic town to drive through but I think we got our fix with the one day we went.
Nice comfortable clean rooms. Very kind to hold our rooms. We arrived late. We were part of Firework crew and of course it was a late evening. Looks like it is going through updates. Outside could use it. I would go back.
I was actually born there and haven't been back in many years. The city has grown a lot and I was impressed how nice it was. Also, cost of living was a lot less than where I live in Maryland. We actually considered moving there.
The front desk AM receptionist Ladonna White was very rude to my family and I. She was acting very racist and made sure we were very uncomfortable. I plan to pursue this matter to a lawsuit . It's was horrible. She should not have a job.
I went to Richmond for a specific reason: to visit Earlham College with my daughter, a prospective student next year. I really liked the college and the people in it, and the Bed & Breakfast where I stayed was beautiful and well priced. But Richmond, IN, is really not much as a city. The cultural life there is kind of flat, Sunday practically everything was closed, and not much happening during the week either.

We enjoyed it all! Very friendly and helpful staff, clean, comfy rooms, and the breakfast offered many options. We were visiting family in the area, and we told them this will definitely be our "go to" place when we visit in the future! Great stay for the price!
