Re-opened in 2012 after thorough renovations, the Tokyo Station Hotel is registered as an Important Cultural Property and boasts gorgeous rooms in a classical European style. It features a French restaurant and stylish bars, and free WiFi is offered throughout. Its entrance is right next to the Marunouchi South Exit of Tokyo Station. This was our second stay. The quality remains at the highest level. Excellent service (a special thank you to the very efficient concierge who arranged for the shipping of our luggage) and facilities and the best central location close to everything, with endless options for dining, shopping and sightseeing.

Situated in the Asakusa area, Ryokan Asakusa Shigetsu has a history of 70 years. The accommodation boasts a view of the Tokyo Skytree from its Hinoki wood bath.

There is a bath for each gender on site and both the female and male baths offer a view of Senso-ji Temple’s Five-storied Pagoda. Really lovely and convenient ryokan located in the heart of Asakusa. The room was very comfy and quiet which we appreciated after a long day exploring Tokyo. The best part was definitely the bath on the 6th floor - it was sooo nice. Highly recommend this place.

Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba is the first Grand Nikko hotel in Japan, open from 1 July 2016. Situated in the Tokyo Bay area in Odaiba, this property is the closest city resort hotel to central Tokyo, a 20-minute monorail and train ride away from JR Tokyo Station. Free WiFi is available throughout the property. We’ve stayed at this hotel before and decided to come back, kind of a little tradition for us now. It’s really great. There’s a huge shopping center right next to it with a Gundam statue out front, which is amazing, and our room had a view of two major landmarks at once. This time we booked a higher-class room and the bed wasn’t just great, it was absolutely divine. The staff are super polite and efficient. They delivered our luggage to the room and took care of everything we needed. And seriously, that RX-0 Unicorn nearby… it’s just awesome.

Featuring free WiFi, Stay Nikko Guesthouse offers accommodation in Nikko. Nikko Station on the Tobu and JR lines can be reached within a 13-minute walk. Free private parking is available on site.

Every room at this guest house is air conditioned and comes with a flat-screen TV. Views of the mountains, river or garden are featured in certain rooms. The area is quiet but still not far from the restaurants and convenience store. Our preschool kid didn't have a problem walking around. The room was cozy and relaxing to stay in. The host was very kind. He gave us recommendations on places to go and drove us to the train station. We will stay here again if we visit the area.
