About this property

Located 5 mi from Lorne on the Great Ocean Road, Cumberland River Holiday park features Cedar cabins and deluxe Riverview Chalets with views of the Cumberland River and the cliffs which overhang the park. Guests can relax in the grounds, stroll along the riverbank, take walks into the National Park or visit the beach nearby. The holiday park offers a children's playground. The location made it feel positively isolated. Despite the number of cabins and tent sites, it was quiet. We saw a few kangaroos grazing in the holiday park. The two bedroom cabin was spacious and had all that we needed for our one night stay.

Property info

We are an 'off-grid' camp ground with limited power supply. We generate all of our electricity with a diesel generator, as well as having a battery-inverter system for times when the generator isn't running. The electricity generated is enough for a power supply to the main park infrastructure. This includes our lighting, office, laundry equipment, water pumping and treatment. Our water is sourced from the river that runs along our camp ground. Because of this limited supply, we can only supply one power point per cabin which is enough to charge devices. There are no powered camp sites. Any other power points, or use of high consumption appliances may overload and cut out our supply to the whole park. Please understand the beautiful bush setting that we are in and the reasons why we have these restrictions.

Neighborhood info

Cumberland River is 10 minutes drive from Lorne and Wye River in each direction. The closest shops and restaurants are in Lorne, although the office kiosk stocks basic grocery items. Children have fun paddling in the river and meeting new friends. The beach (unpatrolled) is across the road. The closest patrolled beach is in Lorne.
