Breakfast plentiful, dinner good, Aaron was good, but the larger rooms with the outdoor sitting area were exceptional
Nestled at the foot of Wilpena Pound, Rawnsley Park Station is a 12,000-hectare working sheep station in the Flinders Ranges.

There is nothing to fault about this place. This was my fourth visit in eight years, and each time the experience improves. Like all cabins, we had a view of Rawnsley Bluff, so both the sunrise and sunset were magnificent. The accommodation was excellent. Spotless, well furnished, very comfortable beds, excellent kitchen facilities, hot water showers at the right pressure, heating and cooling (though we only used the overhead fans). The outdoor barbeque and seating facilities are great. We self-catered, and the kitchen contained all the utensils and cookware needed. Tea and excellent ground coffee were provided.
I walked every trail on the map provided at reception. If you climb Rawnsley Bluff, make sure you also take in the Wilpena Lookout. The shorter, less arduous walks (Pine Grove, Kangaroo Gap Lookout and Clem's Lookout) are worth doing, but perhaps less of the 'wow' factor. Take water, trail mix, and your camera. There are multiple places to watch the sun rise and set in the area, but the station lookout on the map is great (picnic tables and seating). However, Pugilist Hill is 8km from the station and 'the' place to watch the world go by. Take your favourite people and wine, and admire one of the greatest views in the region. You get Wilpena Pound, Elders Range and Chase Range in a single 360-degree view. Spectacular.
Reception is helpful and the station staff always ready with a smile or a wave.
Originally opened in 1876, the historic Prairie Hotel is located in Parachilna. It offers an on-site gourmet restaurant, a bar and an art gallery.

Great walks on the station itself, amazing views! Proximity to Wilpena Pound was a bonus. This station experience was a wonderful part of our Flinders Ranges trip. We were given plenty of information when we booked (need to bring own food), which was very handy, plus the warm and informative welcome was great.
Offering a garden, Holowiliena Station & The Outback Blacksmith features accommodations in Flinders Ranges. The farm stay, set in a building dating back to 19th century, offers free private parking.
Stunning area. I was amazed at the huge ancient trees and the beautiful red cliffs.
This area is a long way off the main road and there are some patches on the way up to Wilpena pound without service. However the road is good and well traveled.
I wish I had longer to explore the many hikes and lookouts. However the walk to the homestead from Wilpena Pound resort is spectacular and so incredible I saw so many wild animals and birds on that short walk. I learned a lot about the history of the area too.

This is a very special place in Australia and one which is always on the top of our go to places when in South Australia. The scenery is unsurpassed and rugged. Colours are amazing. Always a good chance to see Kangaroos and emus. The gorges are an experience I wish all Australians could see. Peacefulness, bush walks, awesome, geological history in abundance and a very meaningful place for our First Nations Australians where we can all learn about indigenous culture.

The scenic flight over Wilpena Pound was great.
The scenic flight over Wilpena Pound was great. However there was not much else to do. The place was mostly closed for Christmas. Trails closed. No tours we could find. Not the best time of year for us.

We should have hired a 4wd as a lot of the tracks didn't suit our little hybrid car. However the road is great up to Blinman, and we saw as much as we could in the time we had. Blinman has a copper mine you can visit, built by Cornish miners. The cafe provides "real" cornish pasties which include apple in the end, as 'dessert.' The landscape is amazing all around, with plentiful wildlife peacefully grazing. Hawker has the most incredible artist in residence - Jeff Morgan, who is internationally recognized for his Panorama paintings. The one of Wilpena Pound is sublime. He also has a collection of memorabilia and cars which is fun to go through. The old pub at Hawker is right out of the 1940's and worth visiting.

This region is stunningly beautiful and rugged.
This region is stunningly beautiful and rugged. Blinman mine tour was a very good insight into life in the mines and recounted / conducted by locals who know the nuanced history and stories of the period. Stokes Hill Lookout is a must for grand views of the rolling ranges and amazing sunset that throw out the colors that are characteristically Flinders Ranges.
Recommend to use a 4WD or AWD SUV so you can access as many places as possible: roads are very accessible to these types of vehicles. Petrol and diesel are available at Wilpena and Rawnsley Park Station (understandably at a higher price). We stayed at Rawnsley Park Station which was a very good experience (except for lack of WiFi).

Overall - outstanding!
Overall - outstanding! The views of the land formations, and from the trails were brilliant. Three days were not enough to actually take in the scenery and appreciate the magnificence of this area. Get out there and just do it!!

Considering it is a camping area, it was very clean and well taken care of. Stayed in a glamping tent - first time. Amenities were what we good and until we figured how to heat the bathroom (there was an electric heater we didn’t see at first), it was a bit chilly. Food was very good, tours were fabulous- we did the 6 hour plane tour, the 4.5 hour tour into Ikara-Flinders National Park and the 2 hour sunset tour..
If you have the chance and want to learn about the first people and and the area, go to Wilpena Pound. It was well worth the cost
The staff (who I think are more like family) were very friendly and helpful. The "cabin" we stayed in seemed pretty new; very clean; open bright spaces; kitchen containing all the necessities. I was so very pleasantly surprised at how hot the showers were! We spent our days exploring the surrounding driving routes and hiking Wipena Pound. We loved how central to the Flinders Ranges region this accommodation was. We spent our evenings sipping wine by the fire or gazing at the incredible starlit Milkeyway galaxy.
The Overseer Cottage was really nice. Slightly outdated but it only gave it a bit more character especially it being a bit of a historic building. Everything inside worked perfectly and it was very clean.
The staff were very amazing and understanding especially since we arrived very late. Very good advice regarding the area and activities.
The station was packed yet it still had that outback feeling you expected. The communal camp kitchen was fully equipped.
We even got free fire wood!
IHad read & heard a lot about the Prairie Hotel for its food & ambience ; both were excellent as was the welcome & friendliness of all staff. The only limitation is that there is 'nothing' other than the hotel in Parachilna . which meant I had to drive to Leigh Creek to get petrol , perhaps visitors need to be pre-warned about this & to ensure the fuel up before getting to the hotel - perhaps more experienced Flinders travellers than I would know this
Great location, friendly staff throughout our stay who could not do anything more for us. Pool location was a great win for us.
Accommodation was perfect for our needs and we couldn't have enjoyed a more relaxing stay.
Tour options were great and we took advantage of these. History book in the room was a great resourceful for learning about the station and area, helped to give context.
Comfortable and well-appointed room in a resort allowing ready access to walking trails, tours and flights for exploring the Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park.
The restaurant offers excellent, varied and healthy choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
A well-stocked store, cafe and gift shop are also on offer at the Information Centre.
3 nights at Rawnsley Park were exceptionally comfortable staying in a superior cabin option, providing us with all essential amenities, amazing views towards Rawnsley Bluff, and an ideal base to explore the Flinders Ranges. The Woolshed Restaurant served great meals consistently, and staff were all friendly and attentive. 5 stars!

We were given plenty of information when we booked (need to bring own food), which was very handy, plus the warm and informative welcome was great.
Very nice resort. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Room was very nice and spacious, although a bit dated. Lovely setting in the heart of the Flinders Ranges. On-site restaurant had a great range of options. Handy to have grocery store and petrol on site.
Lovely little hotel in the middle of nowhere. Recently renovated with all modern facilities. Gorgeous bathroom and nice room. Very friendly and attentive staff members. Dinner and breakfast was included: delicious and copious! A true outback experience.
Immaculately clean and comfortable little cabin that had everything we needed. Great communication from the owners which helped to make sure we go the most from our stay. Fantastic location to soak up the atmosphere of living in the Flinders Ranges.
If you a looking for a property with spectacular views of the Flinders Ranges then this is your place. This is a great spot to travel from or the views and walking tracks at the property are considerable on their own.
It was a great location for exploring flinders ranges. The station itself was also lovely, with some of the walks around the station providing great views of gorges and all that is on offer in the region.
A loud bunch of motorbike riders partied outside with a giant speaker until 4am and nobody but the distressed guests tried to ask them to turn it off. Zero respect from the hotel for their guests.
Lovely room close enough to Wilpena Pound to do day walks. Close enough to the things we wanted to do and good enough to make it worth a little extra driving. Will be back. Loved the clothes line
Wilpena Pound right there. Amazing place. Staff friendly. Restaurant food, whilst not cheap, and whilst simple, was very well cooked - this much better than I thought.
beautiful location. lovely walks. good point to explore Flinders Ranges. good restaurant. scenic flight +++. ability to see sunrise, sunset and so many stars.
