Interesting because it is a centuries old manor house passed down through a single family for more than a century. And lovely grounds and interesting castle ruin with history

Property info

The House is situated on an ancient historical site thought to have been occupied for nigh on 5000 years. The Traills arrived in 1789 and bought the property from the Stewarts, who were the Land agents for the MacDonnells, and Traill cousins. The property was originally built around 1450, extended in around 1650 and again in 1780s. We have tried to keep as many original features as possible, which means that you will not get a 'hotel' feel to the house. It is very quirky. it is important that you arrive during the 4 - 6pm check in, so that we can show you around and help you understand the nature of our very old home. Water and electricity were added long after the 1780 extensions. Walls are so thick that the internet occasionally struggles. The property is located about half a mile from the road up a firm, but ancient tree lined laneway. BT have won't provide fibre here, so the internet can be slow, but adequate for emails and some browsing.

Neighborhood info

Ballylough is a mile from Bushmills, 5 miles from the Giant's Causeway, 10 miles from Ballintoy and less than an hour from 15 of the top Northern Ireland tourist attractions. There are 5 good beaches within half an hour, and we have plenty of places to eat and drink within a short drive. Bushmills has several top places to eat.
