What a fabulous hotel this is, set in a tiny beautiful village of Montgomary in Wales .
Expect fantastic uneven wobbly floors which is very much expected re being built in Tudor times, def added to experience. Bed very comfy.
The star of the show is the staff..
Hannah on reception went over and above to help us with poss late arrival re booked dinner, she was a very warm happy reassuring person, def fantastic front of house, she sent us the menu asked to to pre order and would let chef know, she said not to worry and we would be accommodated, such a relief, food was freshly cooked when we got there and the lasagne was rhe best i have tasted .
Sarah in the bar and breakfast was so warm and helpful re our requests different to menu, she asked our names and wished us well..there were other bar staff both lovely but did not get here names..
Such a refreshing change to get a lovely hotel and fantastic staff..
We would def recommend this hotel if looking in this area of Wales

The B & B is placed right in the centre of the town, is a short distance to most of the local attractions and makes a great base to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside. The facilities are superb and the host is warm and welcoming. The breakfast was very good too. We'll certainly be going again.

A lovely house in a beautiful garden. Debbie was a wonderful host, who couldn't have done more to accommodate us. The breakfast was amazing, with so many options, and happy to cater for vegetarians and vegans

Very peaceful and beautiful location in the heart of the Welsh countryside. The cabin is very cosy but more than enough for two people, also the bathroom has lots of space and a good size shower. Loved the animals roaming around freely.

A quaint village which was like stepping back in time but perfect for a wander. We enjoyed a fantastic lunch at the Castle Kitchen cafe and all the locals were friendly. Montgomery provided the perfect location to attend the Kaff Kasset exhibition at Powys Castle and gardens..

Such beautiful scenery, we walked the canal and visited Powis Castle, where the resident peacock showed us his wonderful feathers. We had a cream tea in the courtyard cafe.
There is a little cafe in Welshpool called the Inglenook, where you can get anything from a sausage bap to scampi and chips, also plenty of veggie choices for the like of myself, served by welcoming ladies with lovely smiles🙂

Lovely rural setting with view of the sheep in the fields.
Lovely rural setting with view of the sheep in the fields. I ate at the Nag's Head which is at the end of the road. Lovely meal was good value for money and brownie was amazing. Montgomery itself it rather small but travelling to Welshpool for work was a synch. I would highly recommend this establishment with their hands on, nothing is too much trouble touch. I will be back.

Many great hill walks with fantastic views - we could see mountains 50 miles away. Nearest town Bishops Castle best base for touring, with Co-op supermarket at Churchstoke has everything for home and country living.
Good bus links for major towns but car needed elsewhere, and many of the minor roads have grass growing along centre so slow driving is best, and you see the scenery.

Picture postcard town square is like stepping back in time,...
Picture postcard town square is like stepping back in time, Something to cater for all tastes and budgets, from Michelin tar restraints to a Spa selling sandwiches and Wonderful mid priced food at the Dragon hotel. We were just passing through so didn't get time to explore the castle but we'll be back for a longer period to explore the area in the near future
The Dragon Hotel is an old, rambling hotel with loads of charm. We stayed in a Superior Room, which was very pleasant (apart from the mattress which sagged in the middle).
Most of the staff were very young - pleasant, helpful and energetic but lacking finesse.
Breakfast was excellent. We also dined in the restaurant which was fine (luckily as there is nowhere else to eat in the evening in Montgomery), although only the bar menu was available on either night of our stay.
Exceptionally first class establishment with very comfortable accommodation with high standards of cleanliness, warm, friendly, fantastic food all locally sourced ingredients so can’t get any better or fresher than that and situated within beautiful surroundings. Owners great and what’s more it is a dog friendly hotel👍Felt like home. Good value for money and I shall certainly be returning again in the near future.
Highly recommended.
Great location in a charming period inn that has been renovated to a high modern comfortable standard. In the heart of Wales next to the English border with lots to do in the location from hiking the Long Mynd, visiting historic Montgomery or the exceptional Powis Castle and Gardens. The room was comfortable and of a good standard, nice spacious bathroom and breakfast was exceptional.
Lovely 17th century coaching inn in a fantastic historic setting but with modern, clean facilities. Warm welcome at a very quiet time of year with good food and beer and the added bonus of a well maintained indoor pool all to ourselves. Excellent value for money although I wish we'd checked what time the castle opened before we walked up that slope!
Quaint and tucked away in a lovely country setting, Dolforwyn hall is an escape away from the bustle of town and work. Wonderful walking trails nearby, comfortable rooms, and beautiful views are all good, but the warm hospitality and welcome of the innkeepers is what really makes the stay worth repeating.
The Montgomery branch of the llangollen canal is at the side of the pub, a pleasant 6 mile tow path walk into Welshpool. The pub is isolated, really you have to drive to visit any venues.
The rooms are spacious.
Good for a one night stop over.
Host was very accommodating. Excellent communication. Brilliant breakfast. Grounds and location a bonus. We used to attend a function at nearby Garthmyl Hall, a 10-15 minute walk away. Would definitely use again. Recommended. Thank you Debbie.
Characterful.
Clean.
Comfortable.
Well appointed and equipped.
Excellent position - only a few minutes walk to the Dragon Hotel, The Crown Inn, and Montgomery Square
Great views
Owners very positive
Very quiet and peaceful
Location - Montgomery is well worth a visit, amazing views from the castle which is only a short walk up from the hotel
Characterful building
Pleasant lounge
Very nice food in thebistro restaurant
Great breakfast
The Dragon Hotel was a great place to stay overnight, very comfortable and clean, staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast was delicious, the hotel is in a lovely unspoilt small town.
Stunning decor made it feel like a boutique hotel. Particularly liked the scented candles in every room and complimentary toiletries in both bathrooms. Also loved the picture smart tv
Lovely helpful staff. Very helpful and accommodating when we nearly missed dinner service due to being held up. Welcome dogs and can bring dogs down to breakfast in the den.
A fantastic location for this quirky hotel. It was a breath of fresh air to find this gem. Such a relaxing atmosphere surrounded the whole village. Excellent.
At the end we still managed to have some nice time with beating walks in the surrounding countryside areas like the Montgomery valley and Stapeley Hill.
